More than willpower required...need help

Post by treiz »

So I was doing well losing body fat until I started career about 6 weeks ago and now i'm in a rut. complex is the hub for all day meetings, which means 1-2 times a week catered food is being brought in. To be totally honest, I don't have the willpower to shut it down 100% of the time so are there some snacks that will fill me up beforehand to help kill the urge to binge? So far i've tried "good" fats like almonds but it's not doing the trick. Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking? Alternative food choices to bring to work, or things that will stop you binging, whilst you're there?

I’m big on healthy snacks, and I don’t see the point in them if they’re not filling! So here’s some for you to try…

Air-Popped Popcorn- maybe not the best at-work snack, since the smell seems to drive some people crazy, but it’s high in fiber, protein, and B vitamins! I think it’s very filling too! I put Parmesan cheese on mine for some extra flavor!

Soup – Not the most conventional snack, but the healthy versions are mostly water, and can be pretty filling. If you make your own, you have the most control over what you’re eating, if you buy it, watch the sodium!

Apples and Cheese – One of favorites, and easy for work! You can pick your favorite combo, I really like Golden Delicious Apples and Parmesan Cheese!

Hummus and Pita Wedges – I make own hummus (it’s really easy!) and usually top the pita and hummus with fresh veggies for some extra crunch and flavor! When I’m out of Pitas, or if you’re watching carbs, I just use the hummus as a dip for the veggies!

Rice Cakes- I’m personally a huge fan of rice cakes, and usually spread on the Peanut Butter to really fill me up!

Good luck! Hope you find something that works for you!

Looking for some filler snacks similar to what was posted above (Thanks btw). Occasionally I'm going to give into the craving and eat some of the catered food brought in, I was just looking for some healthy and filling snacks I can eat maybe an hour before lunch so I won't binge on the bad stuff.

Understood.

The Almonds won't necessarily help, as they are very weak on Carbs, average on Protein, (unless you eat stacks of them), and mostly there for good Fats, so as mini fillers they're average at best.

Try a bit of low Fat cheese then, or possibly you might benefit from Cashews. They have the Fats in like Almonds, but are a rare breed. A Nut with Carbs. In that instance just have the same weight of Cashews as you would Almonds. So if you had 50g Almonds say, have 50g Cashews.

Or have the Almonds and boost Carbs with something like a raw Carrot perhaps, a Carb source that requires no cooking.

Or alternatively you could go for Peanuts. Good fat, and reasonable Protein and Carbs. Again go for the same weight / amount as you would with Almonds.

You've got at least a few options here, which might work for you.

Thanks for breaking that down...I definitely misunderstood the almonds. I thought the fat alone should keep me full. I'll try subbing some kind of rotation cashews, low fat cheese, apples and carrots then...Thanks to both of ya.
