Anyone See The Olympics?

Post by Boss Man »

I bet if D is reading this, she might have seen the most unbelievable sight in the Olympics. A 16 year old female from Egypt, did a 133kg Clean and Jerk. I wouldn't have thought someone that age, not even a would be quite capable of that at 16.

I haven't been able to see much of the competition, but there are some amazing performances going on. I'll have to check that out.
It's too bad that this is such a misunderstood sport that gets zero TV coverage. Everything I've been watching has been on the internet, and it starts pretty late here so I've missed a lot.

Wasn't quite that much, I think it was about 0.22, but the speed he ran was nutso.

They reckon he might have gone better than 9.69, and done 9.66 if he'd not celebrated near the end, and kept his shape.

Well Michael Johnson the former 400m and 200m runner, thought that would have been the time Bolt could have achieved.

One ironic comment was, Aspaha Powell was once the fastest man in the world, now he's not even the fastest man in his country .

Secretly I think Powell must be pleased and incredibly gutted, in equal measure.

Johnson did lose it it's true. Johnson ran 19.32, Bolt 19.30. Johnson predicted Bolt could possibly eclipse his old record, but it was more likely he may not have done quite as much speed endurance work, as may have been possible, and would win but get a 19.50.

Johnson was still feeling quite good about his 400M record, but was reminded he is now also a former world record holder too. Strange position to be in I don't doubt.

On a side note. They were showing a bit of Beach Volleyball a few nights ago, and Johnson was a studio guest. He's been mostly working with BBC indside the Birds Nest, on the coverage of Track and field only.

When asked if Womens Beach volleyball was something that floated his boat, he replied, let's just say I have own opinion on that one.

Too funny.
