At the risk of being nitpicky (sorry)... what you mean to say is "essential amino acids". Proteins are made from 20 different amino acids. Not all proteins have all 20 kinds though. Animal protein (meat) usually does, vegetable protein usually doesn't. Human bodies can made some fraction of the 20 on our own (I forget the number), but the others we have to get from our diet.

I can't give you a complete answer because I don't know it. However I too am a vegetarian, and so this info is important for me. What I do know... soy is complete. Beans + rice (not either alone) is complete. If you're gonna be a lacto-ovo dude, both dairy and eggs are complete.

Hope that helps some. :D

Eleven of the proteins can be synthesized from other nutrients but 9 must be obtained directly from the diet. :)

Most Vegetables contain some Protein, but nearly all if not all contain very inferior amounts.

You being Vegetarian, have limited options regards "Complete Proteins"

These include.

Soybeans

Tofu

Nattokinase

Milk

Yoghurt

Low Fat Cheese

Eggs

You can get other Legumes as a source of Protein, and things like Lentils and Rice, but they are incomplete Proteins, (I don't know which they don't have).

All those are suitable enough for Vegetarians.

People become Vegetarian, because they have issues with animals being killed.

I don't in part. I have almost never thought about the origins of the flesh sources I choose to eat, when I eat them.

Ouch swans! Sounds painful. Maybe be a little more careful next time you decide to do that lift? :) I'm glad you're ok. Sounds like that could have turned out much worse!
