what I meant was if high intensity shouldn't be done with sprints then on a day off from sprints do high intensity for 10-15 minutes then 30% for 5 minutes then midrange cardio for 15-20 minutes.

From how you've explained things this should induce a similar effect to the sprints for fat mobalization and consumption.

what's difference between sprints and high intensity? same things aren't they? in that case each cardio day will include sprints/high intensity

I have been lead to believe that sprints are an anaerobic activity whereas high intensity cardio is aerobic.

sprints are more like lifting weights in that you go extreme for a short time and rest.

high intensity cardio would be a steady although hard paced exertion over a fixed interval of 15-20 minutes, hence aerobic.

Have I missed something or does each person have a different meaning of the 2?

well it depends on the length of the sprints really...100m sprints take 10secs, 200m 19secs and 400m 38secs but they're all classed as a sprints as your going as fast as you can...the total time doesn't cictate what it is...if you do 5 x 50m sprints but then jog for 5mins btw them for active recoveey, it's hardly classed as an aerobic workout

the whole point of the intervals is to make them anaerobic so they must as hard as you can go for whatever (hard) time period you're doing them for, you're simply easing off to recover to keep your work quality high (like wts) not to train like a marathin runner

just a termionology thing i suppose, your thinking sprints as short and sharp intervals such as outside on the grass but i call all intervals sprints regardless of the time as you're supposed to go as hard as you can

on mon/wed/fri you'd do heavy wt work with short to no rest (circuits etc)...tue/thu/sat do the cardio as described there (below):

5min warm up
1min @ 90%
2mins @ 60%
5mins @ 30%
20mins @ 55%
3min cool down

week 1 perform the 90/60% intervals x 3 cycles
week 2 x 4 cycles
week 3 x 5 cycles
week 4 x 6 cycles
