CLA.. any one else?

Post by heidi_sweetclover »

So, I have been hearing about CLA for a little while now, and decided to go and buy some to give it a try.
Apparently it was naturally occurring in meat and cheeses before humans and our incessant processing of natural foods got involved.
Supposedly it helps your body to utilize the fats that you take in instead of just storing them... or something to that effect.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried it and/or seen any positive/negative results!

you don't store fat you ingest, you store cal's you ingest from eating too many and not expending too many....no supp will help that...better eating and more exercise will though

I'd agree that something like CLA has it's place. I'm not enamoured with similar things like L-Carnitine however. I believe it's quite good, now supposedly classed as an Amino Acid, for some reason, but I think some people use Carnitine as some kind of magic Fat metaboliser.

It's almost certainly not that good.

CLA I'd give credit to though. As long as you eat right and train well, I see no reason not to use it.

Buy grass fed beef if you want to up your CLA. It's pricey but very tasty and is chock full of natural occurring CLA.

Grass fed is better way for the animal to be reared as well. A Lot of Meat in Britain is now classd as Grass fed, often with a liberal inclusion of Whole-grain, not just a load of crappy grains, and no Grass, which was probably more the case 30+ years ago.

Well CLA is a very healthy kind of Fat, but like all health Fats moderation is still key.

Fat has roughly a 50g a day reccomended upper limit. with 20 max Saturates limit.

So what you're doing, is not entirely but partly replicating with Fish Oil benefits, what CLA does.

This isn't a bad thing, as it's okay to have multiple EFA fat sources per day, just be mindful that supplementing will bump up daily amounts, and not to go too high on the supps, if your diet has a decent amount of EFA's / Unsaturates, and some Saturate in it already.

I wouldn't have thought so. As I stated before with the saturates and total fats numbers in the post your quoted.
