muscle workout - increasing weight

Post by AnHero »

Hi! I have been told it is really important that i increase lifting weights if i want to build muscle, i was wondering how often should i inrease them and how much?
i also see a problem in doing so because i dont have the time to go to a gym so i do workouts @ home, I've got dumbbells with 4x2,5kg and 4x 1,25kg weights, and a "pole" thing (whatever :P).. I do have a real gym-thing with cables on a barbel thingie but id rather keep to dumbbells and doing body-only exercises.. but maybe that is not such a good idea, since i cant vary so much in weight-increase i guess..

I do routine like this: all the muscle groups once a week, so should i increase the wheight once a week, or once every second or maybe in between sets? I have no idea really how this works so fill me in here.

sorry that it is so long and.. unprofessionally written >_<

Anhero man i think you should do yourself a favor and get a membership to a gym! thast the bottom line from me really you can work out at home with your dumbs and the machine you got there but in all honesty your results are going to be minimal if any at all. You want to lift heavy all the time or at least what is heavy for you. You can post a routine you go through at home and ill look at that but you really need to be in the gym 3 times a week for about 45 min if your looking to see any good results... also try posting your diet so we can take a look at how yuo eat its probably more important then lifting even.

na mate ive got the discipline no doubt, and the diet planner on this site is confusing me, it has got like 50 different kinds of oatmeal and none of them match the one that ive got. lol :P
i workout 5 days a week, 45 minutes to an hour each time.. a gym only feels like its there only to motivate me. thats what ive been told, that if i want to take it seriously; go to a gym or you'll lose motivation, but that is not the problem

if u really want to i can write down what ive done the past 3 weeks, (since i started).. i just have to finnish todays workout :)

Dude im not telling you to go to the gym to stay motivated and im not saying read every diet site on this form... The gym has valuable equipment you need and probably cant afford at home or at least i cant. You need bench's, squat racks, pull up/chin up bar, loads of dumbs and bars with weights, a pully machine for push downs, flies those type of exercises and also at the gym you can get some1 to spot you when your lifting really heavy which you will need... the diet i mentioned because most ppl make the mistake of not eating enough i suggest at least 6 meals a day high protein and veggies, get high carbs with breakfast, pretty much any oatmeal will give you that and chicken breast, lean ground beef , things like that with a veggie side... also whey after every workout is a must and drink loads of water

best of luck man and hope you keep us posted
