you could do more days then that but it depends where you are with them...i done them with 35 kgs strapped to me the other day i didnlt do them the next day obviuosly...will do them again today though a little lighter for more reps which is 3 days later
second, no more than 2 times a week, do chins-up and Rows too.
They work biceps, and back if you want to be general.
why did you recomend no more than 2 times a week, is there any bad to do more than that?
A great coach, Charles Staley, recommended for strength/mass gains and to not overtrain the movement, only two vertical pull a week if done heavy. (Trying to add credibility to speech)
And I'm with him, try to do every two day some HEAVY sets of chin/pull up and come back here after lol.

Yeah but that's because you have enough upper body strength to DO them everyday without too much damage (if any, for that matter) to the muscle fibers. I'd only say do them as much as possible if you are not able to pull out a dozen reps. The work with grip variations and fat boys (for example) until you can do them in perfect form without any strain. The go heavy, (as Chris quoted Charles, who is really a great coach), weighted, twice a week.
And Alex, dude, pull-ups don't make a training program, what else are you doing??
i wa sjust saying theat if you can only do 3 then you could do sets 3 2 - 3/week because you won;t cause a lot of muscle damagae with such low rtime under tension...if you can sets of 12 though than 1 - 2 week will be ebnough, and should be as you'll be sore
even better do pull ups one upper body day and chin ups the next...there's also plenty of grips you can use

o yeah i really don't do only this i used to lift weights mostly in circuits 4/ week
and play tennis if can daily i do it
