Introduce yourself
I am a 23 year old college graduate. I have always had a weight problem but when I did manage to lose the weight, life intervened. This is third and final go around losing weight as God is witness. I plan to do teach for america in two years. I live in San Diego but plan to go back home to MD in 07/07.

I'm glad you did too! I just recently found it as well (as you can see from post count).
Oh and btw.. I'm Leah.. 24 years old living in the Uk right now. I'm originally from Canada but I moved over here 3 months ago to teach. goals are to lose about 20 pounds and just gain an overall healthier lifestyle.. (in all areas: health, self image, weight, fitness etc).

Hello all,
I'm new and also stumbled on this site searching for fitness forums.
I am 30, a mother of 2 young boys.
goals are to lose body fat hopefully, get to 15-16% BF
I work out 5-6 x a week. I like to work out hard, but I lack in the will power department in the nutrition aspect.
I know what I need to do, I just crave sugar alot. I know how to change diet so I don't crave the sugar but again, lacking in the will power.
Anyway, this forum seems to have a wealth of knowledge to it.

Lowest weight
lowest weight was 135.
Re: Lowest weight
At 66", 115 pounds is on the low side. Consider making your long term goal 135 pounds? You may find that you are comfortable there. At 115 pounds, your BMI (Body Mass Index) would be 18.6, just shy of being underweight. At 135 pounds, your BMI would be 21.8, in the healthy range and in opinion, more appropriate.BellaLucia wrote: lowest weight was 135.

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi Bella...I am a 50 year old female....4 kids all grown...live in Eastern Canada. I started workingout and "watching" diet a year ago. I have been amazed at the changes I have made in body shape and strength. I have recently "taken it up a notch " and with some online research and help from peeps like sarah swano and sammey I have fashioned an eating and excercise plan that is working for me.BellaLucia wrote:I am a 23 year old college graduate. I look forward to workouts ...eating well and giving up the sugar and white bread gets easier when you journal what you eat and realize what a "calorie" is worth on a treadmill. I use a free online site called fitday.com.......I wish I had started this when I was your age.....Good Luck

Better late than never though.
BMI is a useful tool for categorizing weight. However, it is not likely to be useful for athletes because athletes have more muscle than do nonathletes which increases the weight-to-height ratio. BMI considers weight in relation to height. BellaLucia is not an athlete, she is attempting to lose weight. Perhaps Swanso, you should investigate the rationale behind BMI before making a blanket statement regarding it.swanso5 wrote:bmi is rubbish, i've been obese for yrs acoording to that at 70 - 75kg... % is a much better reading to go off i think
