Post by Patrick »

Hey im going home for a week for job. it requires me to do some work from hometown which is small and has no gym. I have a bench and some dumbells and a curl bar but very very limited weights. I can run and sprint still but most exercises i wont be able to do anyone have suggestions so i wont lose muscle and strength! also if i just overload on cardio trying to cut down some b4 i get back to town and to the gym what effects will this have on me?

A one week layoff is not going to do much if anything to you. Unless you plan on eating like a pig, the chances of gaining weight and becoming a weakling are very very minimum. In fact, it can be said that if you are a very frequent exerciser that taking a week off can in fact be good for the body - remember rest is very important and often times we don't get enough of it.

But should it concern you so - start knocking out all kinds of pushups througout the week, find a a bar to do chinup-pullups and configure some chairs to do dips.

Pushups to suggest: regular, elevated legs, wide, divebombers (youtube it if you don't know what it is) and a personal favorite - The Long Count Blast plus One - this is where you assume the normal pushup position - then slowly do a a 3 or 4 count to the lower position, then blast up and then do one regular pushup - This will be 1 push up. Do 3 sets of 10 to 15 of those and that should do you good - gets the heart pumping and works everything in your upperbody and core.
