13 year old workout - questions

Post by Oxidane »

I am 13 years old and I train with 20 lbs. dumbbells. goal is to gain muscle. This is routine:

Day 1 - BACK: Plate Raises, Shrugs, Bent Over Standing Rows, Good Mornings.

Day 2 - CHEST: Push Ups, Decline Push Ups, Flyes, Pullovers.

Day 3 - ABS: Deadlifts, Squats, Oblique Side Bend, Sprint.

Day 4 - SHOULDERS: Overhead Shoulder Press, Laterals, Front Laterals.

Day 5 - BICEPS: Curls, Hammer Curls, Concentration Curls.

Day 6 - TRICEPS & FOREARMS: Deadlifts, Extensions, Hand Close Push Ups, Reverse Curls.

Day 7 - LEGS: Deadlifts, Squats, Lunges, Calf Raises.

Is there anything wrong in routine? Any tips to give me?

well you don';t want too much wt work...bodyweight, agility and awareness type of exercise are best for you now...learn how to control and move your body before ading external load

Yes, true at 13 you don't do 20 perfect inverted row, push-ups and lunges ... after these you can do one leg squat etc. before hitting weights you must own you own BW ... I'm training little brother who's 12 and with BW training I'm able to make him suffer lol

So, I could do:

Push ups and Incline Push ups for chest.

Chin-ups for biceps.

Pull-ups for back.

Dips for triceps.

Deadlifts with weights for abs.

Would that be great?

LOL! I do deads for abs, I don't want to waste time on crunches! I don't do squats because I don't want big legs anyways.

Well even if you don't want big legs you should still do squats.

To work your abs do prone and side ab braces.

You're only 13, you shouldn't be doing any hardcore weights yet. In football at that point you're only doing bench, squats, and power cleans for a reason.

What's wrong? you have no recovery lol.

P.S I can't see you gaining much from a 7-day routine, not to mention your probably prepubescent and lack much testosterone (hormone supporting muscle growth).
