sugar!!!

Post by leahvictoria »

Hi everyone..im brand new to this site and i've been working out and trying to eat well for quite a while now but over the past couple weeks ive really been having trouble with sugar! I find that I have a sweet tooth after I have a meal and its quite frustrating, or around 4pm thats when I tend to really crave it. I think its sabotaging weight loss efforts-- anyone with any ideas?

Thanks!

What is your favorite fruit? You could have a small serving of your favorite fruit after a meal when you are having this craving. Also, are you sure that you are eating enough good quality carbs and drinking enough water? Make sure you are really satisfying your body.

That's a good idea about the fruit.

Chances are im not getting enough in.. I try to restrict myself a bit and maybe it's possible that this is causing me to crave more. I find this weightloss so hard sometimes you know?

Thanks for the reply Sarah.. I took a look at your site by the way. You are doing a great job in your PT!

Thanks!
Not eating enough can definately lead to cravings. It can be hard to find exactly what your body needs, but a diet should leave you satisfied.

I have a sweet tooth as well. I crave white sugar. It does sabotage weight loss for me too. I do on occasion manage to beat it . If I stay with small meals and never let myself get hungry I dont seem to crave as much.

Thanks to the two of you. I guess it comes down to really making sure I listen to body and not try to restrict but keep everything balanced so that im not caving with the sugar cravings.

I like the idea of 6 small meals a day.. I know it makes sense to keep your blood sugar balanced so that it doesn't drop and I won't need the pick-me-up (in the form of sugar).

thanks again!

I try to eat the best carbs.. whole grains.. although I do have special k cereal most mornings and i know those carbs cant be all that great for me. Maybe I should try oatmeal instead in the mornings? Or just some egg whites perhaps. I need to up the water too.

Whole grains are beneficial because they contain fiber, but Speecial K is appropriate and not a "bad" carb. Egg whites, although fat free and provide protein, do not fuel your muscles with glycogen (sugar) needed for exercise.

don't sdhut sugar off completely, if you have a ctraving then do 10mins of bodyweight circuits beforehand so it gets used or some exercise so it won't matter...when i know i might be having some kfc or something i try and schedule it after a workout somewhere so it's not totally making me fat...of course i have proper post meal before it though
