it seems like no matter what i eat or how hard i work out i still can not get rid of tire around waist!

Im not to sure but i think past has something to do with why i cant lose the tire! about 2 years ago i weighed about 300 pounds. i lost about 120 pounds now weighing in about 180.


i run every night for atleast 30 minutes a night and im also using free weights 6 times a week!

Breakfast everyday i have scrambled eggs and 2 glasses of milk
lunch: salad with honey mustard dressing
same thing for dinner

im not sure if this tire i have is fat, im starting to think that its just like skin from when i used to be really fat. if anyone knows anyone with this problem or sees any problem with what im doing please help me because im about to totally give up and let the tire win the battle haha. im willing to do whatever it takes since im currently in kuwait serving a 6 month deployment and i have nothing but time to work out and focus on diet and goals

First off congratulations on the weight loss and thank you for serving.

What your doing right now, lifting and diet wise, is really not what you should be doing.

You need to be eating more than you are eating.

Running for 30 minutes doesn't do crap for fat loss which is what that tire is, you should be doing sprints instead.

For lifting search the waterbury method by chad waterbury and do as written.

you will not gain muscle even with all the lifting you are doing
you need to be eating 6-8 meals a day with a lean protein at each meal here is a link to good workouts and diets

First off as suggested, you need 6 small meals a day preferably, 5 at the least.

(SNACK you could do with one here. If you go for Tomatos, you can try the yellow or orangey ones, if you can get them, as the Lycopene is more effective, as it doesn't convert like it does in Red Tomatos, as there's no enzymes in yellow or orange Tomatos to convert it.

If you want Fruit, then go for a few Berry type Fruits, give them some time to digest, then have your Protein, and some Tomatos and Veggies, Tomatos, Peppers and Veggies, Peppers and Veggies or Mix Veggies.)


lunch: salad with honey mustard dressing (No, you need Protein here too. Turkey, Turkey Ham, Chicken, Fresh Fish, or add things like a small portion of Lentils, or Peas / Beans, to boost Protein, in which case reduce Flesh Protein a bit to compensate. As Legumes and Lentils have some Carb, you could add a bit of Carb in from things like Tomatos, Peppers, Veggies, or just go with those with your Flesh, and cut out the Legumes and Lentils.

A bit of Nuts for Fats if you like, or use Avocado, for a Carbs, Fats combination)


(SNACK same type of arrangement as earlier, but add some of the Carb and Fat options from Lunch in here, to bolster your choices.)

same thing for dinner (Same advice for Dinner)

(SNACK. same advice as afternoon snack)

(Other things to consider.

You can have Soy foods like Soybeans, Tofu, Nattokinase, or a bit of Low Fat Cheese here and there, as they are good for things like Proteins, Fats, Carbs, Calcium Vit D etc etc Soy is good for things like Magnesium, Copper, Isoflavones etc etc, from memory.

You should have these sparingly, as you don't need to incorporate thme into your daily regime, but sometimes is okay, as is the same advice for things like Brown and Wild Rice.

Remember though, that Brown and Wild Rice are a combination of Aminos and Carbs so factor that in, when considering how much Flesh and Veggies to have with them. They are options but you don't need to go with Rice options daily.

Tuna is a Fish option, but is a Mercury risk, so don't exceed 1 can every 2 to 3 days, incase your body builds up some kind of dependance on Mercury. Heavy metals are toxic, and regular daily ingestion may make that a possibility, and harder for the body to chelate them out.

you need these:

plyometrics
deads
squats
sprints
veggies
fruit
solid protein everytime you eat
eat every 3hrs you're awake
full body, compound exercise only wt programs x 3/week
rest
water
fish oil

get on it

Thank you for the replies, im gonna change diet ASAP!!

Should i eat alittle more than usual because of the huge weather change here in kuwait. temperatures of about 115 to 120 are no mystery around her so you sweat alot! so does this mean i need to eat alittle bit more each meal? sorry if its a stupid question im just new with this weight lifting stuff and its been a long time goal to get in shape!!

No, if it was -30C -40C i would have say yes, but what you really need is more water.

For diet, change it over one or two week.

Wow first of all i want to thank all of you for taking time outta your busy days to just answer annoying problems. i took everything in that you have told me and i started that day. from the last time i posted i have been taking in alot more protein and have been eating alot better. so far i droped about 3 pounds which is alot actually because i have been lifting very hard lately with major results.

the next problem i have for you problem solvers is. i have the tendency to basically find something i like to eat for the day. then i get hooked on it and continue eating it all week. for example. i have started eating more turkey sandwichs for lunch (like you suggested) and i just cant get enough of them now!!! like will have one for lunch then i will have one for diner , sometimes i have them for like 2 days straight. is that ok? i mean is it bad to eat the same thing everyday. i mean i try to switch it up with the types of fruit i throw in for snacks and during meal times. alot of kiwi and pears(they are favs!!)

well it's not optimal as you'll be defificnet in every mineral and vitamin that turkey sandwiched don't include which is probably most of them, hence variety...you can have them everyday sure but not every meal everyday

Exeactly. Turkey Sandwiches are good, and Whole-grain would be better, to add more Macros in that White won't give you, but don't become dependant on them. Could be a regular lunch, but ONLY one a day.

Wow, I was just lamenting this problem today! I'm 35, and boy is it tough to lose the extra thickness around waist. I'm eating less these days because of a very stressful move in progress, but I'm still trying to find the discipline to cut out all the things that prevent me from taking a big step forward in physique. I really know that I won't have the body I truly want without eating very, very clean and doing it consistently.

All the answers we need are right here on ShapeFit.
