Eating and Sleep

Post by daswiss14 »

Hi,

Im not sure if this has anything to do with diet, but quite often during the week I struggle to sleep... I was wondering if its just me or if evening meals have anything to do with it?

6-7pm - Solid protein, veg (carbs if ive done/going to do evening sport)

9-10pm - 3 eggs (2 eggs + 1 white) scrambled, 2 pcs celery/cottage cheese + 2 pcs celery

10:30-11:30 bed

I do a lot of exercise, training 5 times per week mornings (3x weights, 2x cardio) and up to another 4 times a week lunchtimes/evenings (sports) so it cant be lack of exercise...

At weekends I generally change up diet and a few drinks etc I always sleep well (still try to keep it fairly healthy but its not as many meals and maybe a bit indulgent etc).

Any advice on whether its diet or just me?

Cheers

Steve

One, maybe your workout is too late in the day witch would make a hard sleep.

Second, maybe your hungry before going to bed, 3 eggs as proteins isn't much if one of them is a white ...

Third, maybe overtraining if your sport is really exigent.

Forth, stress ... Lack of zinc/magnesium if your a men too.

There are many factors, we need more detail to help you.

too much exercise...you're doing 9 sessions a week...cut to 5 with 2 full days off...eat enough to fuel AND recover from training and see how tyou go

Ok details:

Mon, Weds, Fri 7:45ish Weights Training (1hr)
Tues, Thurs 7:45ish Cardio session (5mile run outdoors/20mins cycle, 20mins x-train in gym)

Mon 5-6:30pm - Football (soccer) not particuarly intense
Weds 12-1:30pm - Boxing Body Sparring
Weds 7-8:30pm - Kickboxing training (reliatively easy, more technique based with some sparring involved).
Thurs 12-12:45pm - boxing training

Weekends nothing

Diet:

7am: Get up
7:10: Protein shake
7:45 exercise as above
09:00 protein shake + 1 apple
10:30 1 banana, 1 orange, bag of soy nuts
12pm (no training) sandwich (chicken/turkey/ham/beef/some kind of protein source) fruit
12pm (training) - banana/lucozade, as above post training
3:30pm: salad (veg, kidney beans/potatoes, tinned tuna/tinned salmon/trout/prawns
6pm (no training) - salmon/chicken + veg
(mondays - lucozade before sport, as above after but plus some carbs/weds - as above plus carbs)
9:30pm - celery + cotage cheese/3 eggs (2 whole, 1 just whites)

Would you regard this as overtraining/eating too little? Been doing this for a while now... after writing this message yest i slept like a baby, strange...

Im a very unstressed person so doubt that, find the sports I do are very good at relieving any stress I have, aswell as that "me" time in the morning in the gym is always good too if you get me, but what are good Zinc/Magnesium sources?

Cheers in advance, you guys have always really helped in the past...
