Why is that BM? I just started doing pyramids this week in the hopes of giving workouts a boost. :(

You know what, this makes alot of sense to me.

When you say increase weights for EACH session, do you mean literally every session you should go up with the weights? (which would mean almost every day for me, since I'm now training 5 days ---one of which is cardio only)

yes...each session you should use more wt or get more reps up to the prescribed reps per set, each time you repeat the same workout...if this doesn't happen than i don;t care what program you're doing, it won't work

pyramids aren't very good, not enough "quality sets" there and too many reps done before you reach top wt...it's better to do sonething like 4 x 6 and aim to get 6 reps on each set

so you might get 6, 6, 4, 3 and next week at the very least you need to get 6, 6, 5, 3 or more on the last 2 sets...once 6, 6, 6, 6 is reached increase the wt and go again

pyramind never did it for me.

If you hit failure at say 12 reps, you're working to max capacity, then the body will force you to do about 9-10 next set, because you won't be able to do another 12.

Pyramid, involves you making that choice to cut back, and when I did it, I always felt like a heavy 6 rep set was good, but a lighter 12 wasn't, and a mid range 9 was okay.

Pyramid is a conscious change in reps, but the body uses less weight.

Failure makes the body cut its reps per set, but keeps weight the same.

I didn't feel like I'd done as much doing pyramid stuff, and it made me feel less productive after training.

i don't really like drop sets...as soon as you start decreasing wt in your workouts, you're going backwards...it's all about quality, not quantity...if you want more vol than do more sets with your regular wt, not more with less wt
