Your workout music?

Post by djg »

I tried looking all over the boards and couldn't find anything similar to this thread. So I'm just wondering what tracks everyone listens to to get their pump on.

Thanks.

Depends what I'm doing. If I'm lifting I'll go for rock, nothing too heavy or fast. Keeps body oving a decent tempo, while also giving me 'pump' energy to push out that last tough rep. If I'm running on a treadmill or something, I'll put on some up tempo trance music. Something with a faster beat that is slightly longer songs so that I kinda get lost in the music while I run so I'm not constantly looking down at the timer or how far I've run. Kind of like the idea that "a watched pot never boils" a watched treadmill clock never ticks down.

hmm, usually some sort of hip hop. Other wise its Rage Against the Machine, 311, or things along that line.

When I am doing things like bench or any isometric movement I like to listen to rap, when I am doing any compound movements I like to listen to any hard rock or metal.

That's mad. You listen to Rap when Benching, but for compounds Metal?

I was unaware Rap provided better Muscle Fibre stimuls in the Chest, than something like Iron Maiden could. You've found something novel there I feel.

Mind you, would explain why most rappers, don't have Gyno :) :).

I don't really bother with music much, there's usually two plasmas blurting out Hits Factory, or TMF or something like that, and when I'm training domestically away from the gym, it's good old TV.

Only time I do do music, is when I'm in the exercise room, doing some Boxing or circuit type stuff, then it's usually Rock.

I had an interesting converstion one time with two guys.

I admitted I once trained to Gary Numan as a one off, kind of boxing with big fat synths in the background. Kind of worked for me.

One guy admitted Sabbath could work for boxing, but he wasn't 100% sure about Zeppelin, the Purple, Rainbow et al.

I then said I've trained to different types, not just those, even people like T-rex, REO Speedwagon and even Slade.

One goes what including Merry Christmas Everybody.

I said yeah it was on their greatest hits. I was boxing with that album on once, I think in June, including that track.

Second guy calls me a madman and laughed.

I don't care. Fact is feel good music works for me, I don't necessarily need something specific, so even a Slade Christmas hit in Summer can get me pumped on a bag  .

Nah, platorms would never work fo rme.

I must admit though might have been tempted to try Noddys Mirrored Hat on. Way better than that ordinary one Slash used to wear. Anyone can wear a Hat like that, infact Ritchie Blackmore did in the Death Alley Driver video when he was in Rainbow. He carried it off better.

Maybe Slash copied Blackmores hat idea. I think GnR weren't signed then, the vid was done circa 1982.

I probably wouldn't have wanted to try Dave Hills Metal Nun. That outfit was in another dimension entirely.

True about the present, I like a lot of pesent bands, Oasis, Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, Feeling, Kaizers, but collection is always old school, just a thing of mine.

When I am doing squats or bench I listen to Ramstien or Disturbed it gets me jacked up. When Im jogging I crank up Korn, its great to keep pace with.

Are usual artist playing when I workout ... depending on what I want that morning ... Sometimes no music at all, that way I can focus on breath and be a lot less nervous.

Mmm Deep Purple. I'm getting strains of the Guitar solo from Child In Time, in head right now :P.

That's good listening.

You should check out places like Drummerworld, or Seekasong. You find some good MP3 stuff on those, especially on the Drummerworld Mitch Mitchell section. There's a good selection of Jimi Hendrix stuff

No music for me. When you've got headphones on, it's like your in your own little world. I like being approachable by other members and to talk to others between sets or when I'm resting.

Hardcore rap: Fity Cent, Eminem, Rick Ross, and lately Lil Wayne.

Anything with a good beat.
