I did it again - damn, i suck

Post by FeeFee »

I dove too hard into workout routine on Tuesday (incline bench press) and now right tricep (and the inside of upper arm) hurts, and makes sleep uncomfortable at night. When the arm is held in certain positions, I'm fine, but when I try to raise it, or bend it to brush teeth for example, it hurts. I'm using Voltaren right now....I dont see any swelling, it just feels sore and a little inflamed ---is there anything else you guys can recommend that I use on it? Do I need to stretch the arm or what?
I think the trainer pushed me a little much and me, wanting to challenge myself, just went along with it --- left upper arm is a little sore, and the pecs as well, but its bearable and I can bend arm just fine.

Hum, you surely just didn't eat well enough ... When I do really high volume training, or new exercises I can be really really sore but never at the point to interfere sleep. Maybe take attention to your PWO meal/shake ...

I cant recall what i had to eat that day, but i usually make sure i have enough fuel before workout
I'm supposed to be having protein after workouts, but i havent started yet  .

so any suggestions on what else i can do for the pain and soreness?

"Pain is weakness leaving the body" At least thats what they used to tell us in the Marine Corp. Ive always been told to lightly do the excersise again, with possibly the bar. Ive tried it with legs and although it felt better at the time the sorenes came back slightly afterwords.

I'd stretch it out lightly. Get into a position where you will pull on the muscle lightly, and just hold for half a minute.

Hey guys
Over the weekend, I sort of just stretched the arm into the pain, and now its gone!
What I did was, I purposefully kept stretched arm into the direction in which it hurt most and held it there for a few minutes each time...it hurt pretty bad, but by yesterday, ALL the pain was gone. Yayyyy :D

I still think that it should never be really painful ... the only time that happen to be painful for me was when I failed first bench press, I was alone and trying to put the damn barbell off me lol had some real shoulder pain (soreness) ... Usually when I'm sore or really sore it's never "painful" ...

I never meant that you were weakling, post workout meal is very important for recovery (reduce soreness impact ...) If the pain remains you could look at your form too (posture)

Hey Chris ((((hugs))))) ---I didnt think you did  ...you are right about post-workout meals....to be honest, I didnt have any that day, neither did I have protein..
Now that I think about it I think what happened is, I did sets to failure and on the last two or three, right arm was practically doing all the work and the load was heavier than I am used to, so I put quite a bit of strain on that one arm...I didnt realise until the soreness/pain kicked in the next morning.
I certainly wont be doing that again
