what to eat before/after workout

Post by musclelac »

I'm very confused about what to eat before/after a workout, some people say eat carbs before a workout and protein after while some say the exact opposite. I jus want to know what kind of carbs and what kinds of proteins and can they be mixed together like a tuna sandwich????
Also are fruits a good idea to have before or after a workout???

fruit - best had with 1st 2 meals of the day

I've been told by some people if you wanna keep lean then don't eat starchy carbs like rice(unless brown), potatoes and pasta.....what other foods are good besides that???

After a workout it is imperative that you eat one of those type of carbs.
On every other time (except breakfast or after any sort of activity) they are right to tell you that you should stay away from them.

It's important to have protein and carbs both before and after your workout. After your workout your carb should not be fruit though, as fruit will convert to liver glycogen, and at that time you want muscle glycogen. The best thing for post workout is whey protein with dextrose. It's easy and simple. They can just be combined in to a drink, and it gives your body exactly what it needs.
