ideal grocery list?
yeah lol, going there tomorrow or sometime extremely soon. what would your ideal grocery list be while still saving $?
Well if you're trying to save money, then there are good options you can have that will save you money. I will liist the options, but mainly not go technical about me, as this post is mostly about choices, not use.
Protein options
Eggs
Chicken
Turkey Ham
Sliced Turkey
Lean Mince
Tuna, but restrict to 1 can every 2-3 days, becasue of the mercury risk.
I'd avoid Fish as sometimes Fish can be a bit pricey, and you have poenty of options ther anyway.
Starch and Dairy Choices, (Protein and Carb combos)
Beans
Corn
Peas
Rice
Whole-grain / Whole-wheat products, (Bread, Cereal Pasta etc etc)
Milk.
Carbs
Fruits
Veggies
Macro rich Foods
Low Salt Nuts
Soy Products
Low Fat Cheese, (if the price isn't too expensive).
I haven't included a few things there as you've got enough choice there, and some choices may bump up your costs as well.
If you can find places that are offering two for ones, thne all the better. You won't get two for ones on everything, but essentially places that offer it on some things, or even are giving you savings of 10%-20% or maybe half price, are better than no savings.
You may even find if you have more than one place to shop locally, and they're within a reasonable walking distance, you may be able to find a price comparison webiste, or check deals from each and shop accordingly.
Walking another 1/2 mile to somewhere else that gives you a few discounted lines, saves money, and gives you good Cardio, so sometimes if possible, shopping at 2-3 places has a better financial potential, than just one place.

bear in mind i'm in australia so food names may be different but here's what usually get although i have to go most days as i run out of somrthing each day...i also do a big buy on pay week to try and last me the month but it nevers works...i can't store that much in the freezer:
per fortnight this would be:
bulk chicken fillets x 15/pack
bulk steak x 12/pack
bulk lean sausages x 30/pack
6 - 8 packs of 1kg mixed veggies (by when i run out)
bag of apples x 14/pack
2 banana packs x 6/pack
weetbix box
rice bubbles box x 2
tuna tins x 10 (had first tin EVER last week and now i'm all over it)
2 x fish packs x 8/pack
2 x deli turkey x 500g
2 x mince meat x 500g
2 x loaf of bread
10 x 1lit skim milks
that's probaby about 100 - 130 depending on how much i buy at once depending on freezer space
