An other Diet question, small one

Post by Christopheel »

First I know that we should'nt exceed 1 yolk a day, but one yolk is it recomendable ? I mean does it have some benefits ?

Second, is that true that pepper have tons of vitamine C in ? I've google it and it seems that yes but just wanted to ask since I had the idea that vit C = fruits (mostly) ...

Pepper is a Fruit. Definition of Fruit, anything with seeds or pips.

As for the Yolk, I actually posted something about this to someone else a few days ago, but here's the skinny again.

1 Yolk

2.5g protein

Fat soluble Vitamins, A certainly, D, E, and K possibly as well. The LDL Cholesterol isn't the best kind, but could help with transportation of the FSV's

Lutein, a Carotenoid source responsible for protecton against Macular degneration, (Macular a part of the eye).

However things like Corn, Kale and Spinach, also contain Lutein, (a substance not produced by the body but is beneficial), 3-4g a day being optimal if you want it, Yolks contain about 1g, so you don't need the Yolk for that, but as I say, one Yolk won't be too much of an issue.

LDL Cholesterol does assist in the buildup of Fat deposits in the Heart, but 5g or 45 calories of LDL a day, won't be that bad, and for the other benefits, with one yolk, the pros probably outweigh the cons with that small amount of LDL.

Besides good Fat can help reduce bad Fat, so if your good Fats outweight bad ones, (like LDL Cholesterol and Saturates), by a significant amount, that could even negate any minor negative activity by the LDL anyway.

Having more than one have benfits compare ? Because in morning, I will reduce oatmeal to 1 cup than add additional protein with egg whites + one yolk but if you think I can have more than one without negative side effects I may reconsidere thing :)

Why would you want to consume more LDL Cholesterol?

You might not get any problematic sides, regularly consuming 2 Yoks a day, but why chance it? The benefits I told you about, would then be outweighed by the negatives.

THe body benefits from Lutein consumption, but doesn't need it to function, like say HDL Cholesterol, or essential Amino Acids as examples, and I did give alternative sources.

Also Fat soluble Vitamins can be sourced from other places too, so you don't need to become dependant on Yolks. Stick to one a day, and don't go above that. The more you eat, the increased risk of Fat deposits in the Heart, you're likely to get, and then having potentially better maintained eyesight, won't count for didly squat.
