No Swans, it's not always packed with fat. Read the packaging.
Everyone needs something now and then that is not protein or veggie or fruit. Sugar free jello is a great treat to have now and then.
And speaking of fat, preservatives and artificial flavors...hmmm KFC maybe? If I recall, you profess to enjoying it greatly. (Sorry, gotta call you out on this one)

- i said "and / or" not all at once
- yes i do enjoy kfc but after years of training and proper eating i beleive i deserve a little every now and then...once your at a pretty good level body wise thn and only than should you be introucing treats back into your diet...once you've got there it is very easy to maintain once you have developed new eating habits...i know kfc it's not optimal but you should alwyas be as optimal as you can be...veg and solid protein is more optimal than jello, simple as that

I've been known to indulge is a few McD Hamburgers. However I'm clever. I only go for Hammies, bot full on BM's or QP's or Cheesy ones, and the Hammies are filth free, none of those crappy bits of pickle and other crud. I like meat respected and naked between the bread, not laden with greasy, slimy nasties.
I might not have Bruce Lee style rips, but bf%, and physical look cope admirably in any situation

And/or yes natural foods are better than packaged.
The deal here is, most people need a little something MORE than natural foods on some days. If one can satisfy a sweet tooth with an apple, by all means do it. Most cannot, particularly when starting out.
Sugar free yogurt, jello and pudding can stop you from eating a bag of oreos. And eating a bag of oreos is obviously going to stop you from getting optimal results. Which leads to another bag of oreos out of frustration.
Going from eating horrible food to eating clean food does not happen overnight. Low fat and sugar free stuff, when used in moderation, can stop a person from going batshit.
You can tell anyone to eat veggies and protein until the cows come home. But when the sweet tooth hits (or salt tooth, or whatever) having a low sugar, low fat alternative can be the difference between success and failure. One should not feel like they are doing a bad thing by snacking, in moderation when absolutely needed, on such substitutes.

So you'd recommend eating fried greasy chicken over sugar free jello to get optimal results as a cheat?
The more crap you eat, the more crap you crave. I've seen people go crazy with sweet, greasy or salty snacks, but never heard of anyone bingeing on jello.
I'd rather burn off a 10 calorie jello. Or a 90 cal pudding with added protein powder. Empty or not.
Optimal benefits, of course eating 100% clean is best. But maybe 1 out of 100 actually do that, it's normal. It's about having a coping mechanism to offset unhealthy cravings. One way is to have ALTERNATIVES on hand. Having fruit, PB, cottage cheese are all great, but a bit of "artificial food" won't kill you. It may get you over a major craving and help keep on track with eating.
However, I know you'll argue the point. We don't speak the same language on many issues, so you win, YAY YOU!!!
Now go eat some fried chicken and celebrate.

The problem with fatty food as has been noted, is that it can be hard to kick, not because peoples bodies necessarily crave the calories, but the actual chemical composition of Fats, which affect things like taste, texture hormone ealses etc etc, can become addictive like Caffeine.
So some people who try to lose weight may snack on fatty stuff, not necessarily because the lack of calories makes them feel prematurely hungry, but because they could be getting some kind of Fat withdrawal.
As for what was discussed before, I think it's just a slight difference of opinion. A bit of Fast food won't harm anyone now and again, in the same way as a bit of Jelly, (jello), won't either, so it's horses for courses.
I haven't eaten Jelly for years, but that doesn't mean I never would again.
