Eating to gain weight (Help appreciated!)

Post by redub »

Hi all,

I just found this site and its great!

I have a few questions regarding weight gain. I am 29 years old, 5'10 and 160lbs.

I began working out in november last year, with the goal of 170lbs, starting weight was 144.

gains from 144-160 were increadibly fast. I think it took me about a month an a half of eating every 3 hours.

I have plateaued at 160 and am having alot of trouble eating so much to keep up.

2 things happen to me, I either get sick of the food Im eating, (it sounds silly, but I have always been a really picky eater) or I just am not hungry and find myself having to force myself to eat, which I dont like.

On a good day diet works something like this.

-7am- Cereal/porridge, 3 pieces of toast with peanut butter on it, apple/orange/pear, Milkshake with 2 scoops icecream and 2 eggs.

-10am- 2 peanutbutter and jam sandwhiches with milk or juice.

-1pm- LUNCH - Submarine Sandwich or a bowl of pasta and salad or beef stew.

-4pm- mid afternoon snack - chicken breast and rice or roasted peppers and rice or stuffed cabbage rolls or 2 grilled cheese.

-7pm- DINNER - Big meal!

-10pm- Fried Rice or steamed dumplings or veggie plate (carrot and celery sticks apple slices and crackers)

-Before Bed- Bowl of cereal or sandwich or scrambled eggs and feta cheese.

Through out the day I make sure to drink 4-6 bottles of water and either drink milk or juice with each meal. I rarely if ever eat any fast food, I never drink pop, and dont really eat many junk foods, although I do enjoy the odd bag of chips. =)

Perhaps I am eating to much at every meal or not eating the right things?

How fast should weight be going up? Or what is a reasonable time to expect to put on 10-12lbs?

Its frustrating because I feel like Im overeating, eating to the point where its uncomfortable for me, and Im not gaining any weight =(

- probaby best to maintain your wt and eating intake for 4 - 6 weeks than try again once your metbaolism settles down
- how much of wt gain muscle and fat?
- from the look of your diet i'm not thinking actual muscle...
- everyone can do with more veg
- without gaining fat than 6 weeks minimum for a 10 - 12pd gain and maybe as much as 12 - 15 weeks
- what's your training like?
