Pushup Bars vs. Standard Pushups

Post by chamcham »

Are they any better or worse for doing pushups?
Are they a gimmick?

Do they build strength differently since you no longer
have your hands flat on the ground?

Do they take away some resistance out of pushups?

Just trying to see if they're worth it.

i severed all nerves etc in one of wrists one night so now i can't put it flat on the ground so they're very helpful for me...there only cheap so it can't hurt...i think they're worth it not much difference i don't think between them and standard reps...also look into getting some gymnastic rings they're the best

You can also do press-ups while on dumb-bells. This will offer the same grip, but it will be harder as the dumb-bells will try and roll to separate. It therefore becomes a more demanding workout on your chest (and arms/abs for that matter).

I sometimes do push ups on DBs and I find they work well. Also it allows you alternate your grip more easily. Also try doing T-press ups while holding DB's, these are a bit more difficult.

T press-up:

Its exercise no. 5 in the programme, you can do them without weights as well and they are still quite tough.

Hope this helps
