Forearm Pain/Strain
Has anyone ever experienced pain in their forearms right along the bone where the flexors meet the bone on the bottom side of the forearm? They usually hurt when I hit a certain weight with the dumbbells. I was wondering that maybe I am being a little too ambitious with the weight cause this happened to me years ago when I would reach a certain weight, then I would be in enough pain that I could hardly do the bicep exercises at all. If anyone has any experience or knowledge on this situation please let me know what to do and if there are any creams or pain relievers that I can take to minimize the pain or help improve the situation. Also what can I do to prevent this from happening again to me. Thank you
Boss Man,
Usually any type of curl using the natural curl motion using a barbell or dumbbell. Reverse curls don't bother it much as the focus of intensity is in a different part of the forearm. I feel the pain when I bring the dumbbell or barbell up, then feel it more when I release the weight on way back down. I get a burning sensation along with the pain right underneath that bone as I release the weight from arm. If you take the opposite hand and placed it on top of the opposite forearm, then grip and press with your fingertips against and slightly under the bone on the far side of the forearm-thats where it hurts.

was this posted somewhere else i thought i responded to it...sounds like a pinched nerve in elvow or forearm...go to a physio it would take them 5mins to it if a ligament or something has simply popped out...this kind of situation can also be caused from too many curls...i can't remeber what it'salled but it's in archives which is out of action until i get a new motherboard and / or get broken usb recovered
I have this problem too and have looked up other responses on this subject. right forearm is still a bit sore from when I last worked bi's 5 days ago.
Most people experience this in the forearm and the pain feels like it is in the bone. Straight barbell curles seems to be the main cause and it is recommended to use ezbar instead if that is the case. If you have been having the pain using the ezbar, then do hammer curls instead.
Another cause has been not keeping wrists rigid. Many people curl their wrists at the peak of the rep. If you stay rigid, then the pain should be lessened.
Finally a number of people have suggested that this is due to weak forearms/grip and it is recommended to focus on that for a bit. I have bi's tonight and will test out these recommendations.

Swanso5: I am quite sure it isn't actually the bone, but it just feels like it is. Prior to last week, I hadn't isolated biceps for nearly a month and had no pain. I did still work back and shoulders but never experienced pain during that time until last week on the straight-bar again.
Anyway, last night went fine. I had some pain on the straight bar, but keeping wrists rigid did the trick. I also did hammer and reverse curls with no problem afterwards. I did some forearm exercises when I was done.
