Workout Focus
I am 27 years old and recently started working out. For the last 6 weeks I have been focusing mainly on strength training as I have never been very strong. I have been seeing some major improvements in strength however I am 6'2", 225 lbs with roughly 28% . goal is to get stronger but obviously drop quite a bit of . From what I have read on the Internet and in magazines that you need to focus your training and diet on either muscle gain or fat loss. You can't do both at the same time. question is what is recommended first?? Should I be focusing on cardio and losing by first or should I focus on strength training first??

you have to focus on cardio training more of course , that means you have to spend more time on threadmiles , bike ,etc but u can train 3 or 4 times per week too using free weights and that will speed up the fat loss and building muscles , eat properly and drink lots of mineral water ( water is natural diuretic ), good luck

Obivously your goals require different energy amounts. If yuo want to get big, you can have the lok of "being big", by shedding fat. So if fat lossis the goal, you should concentrate on expending more claoires than you eat. Begin to monitor your daily caloric intake and increase your energy expenditure (yes, cardio).
Once you bring your BF% down (between %18-%15), then conentrate more on strength training. I am not saying abandon all strength training while pursuing fat loss--not at all, but put as much effort into cardio as your would into weight-lifting!
