Abs -- I'd like to see mine.

Post by Tourniquet416 »

i'm 30 somthing, 5 feet 10. for over 15 years, i've weighed exactly 120 pounds. Within 6 months of joining a gym and concentrating on strength training, I was shocked to learn i'd gained 10 pounds. :) I can now show legs with pride because i finally have them.

However, while i'd been doing reps on the abs machine, i found out that I was doing them wrong, and I have this huge stomach to show for it. So for the past week i've been doing 100 reps on the abs machine 6 days a week and plan to do so for the next month or however long it takes.

I had wanted to still gain 10 more pounds but not in stomach, so i don't really want to change diet if it had something to do with gaining the weight.

So will I have the abs I want with routine?

(I alternate exercising muscle groups, except for abs)
I take turns with workouts of 20 minutes for three days and 45 minutes for three days.

i dont belive on machines for the abs , you want to loose the excess of fat on yr abs ? ok use this basic program :
crunchs (for the upper part of yr abs) 4 sets (till failure)
Image
incline board leg raises( for the inferior part of abs)4sets(till failure)

Image

roman chair side raises( the entire obliques)4sets (15 to 20reps)
Image

Image and watch yr diet especially the dinner
take care

I am 5'7 and about 120 pounds as well (24 years old) I do windsor pilates for abs and it's incredible!!! It will take 4-6 weeks to see them, but all of a sudden you'll notice cut abs! Not protruding but if you flex they're out in full force. : )

How is your eating? Diet can make a huge difference especially when it comes to the ab muscles. Cut out the fat and sugar.

Tension and Heavy Compound exercise will build muscle and lose fat from stomach if done properly. Tension exercise I do are mainly on gymnastic rings where you have to tense your whole body or you won't be able to hold yourelf up and compounds (squats and deadlifts) for 10 x 3 with 30 - 45secs rest

Winsor Pilates is another exercise system that stresses core development. Never tried it so I can't give an opinion. Be careful with your abs. They are like any other muscle and need recovery time too. If you train them everyday, train different parts. Don't forget the lower back either. But of course, diet will in the end, be the key.

Peace
