17yo looking to get six pack

Post by HOUSTON TEXAN »

Hi everyone I am pretty new here.

I am looking to get a six pack. I workout every day with 30 mins of interval cardio training and weight training on different muscle groups and have already lost 56lbs (I weigh 180lbs now).

I can already see abs a little bit but not much when I suck in just a little bit.

I drink a protein shake in the morning for breakfast and lunch is usually a deli sandwich and dinner is whatever mom is making but sometimes I substitute lunch or dinner with a salad. I only drink water and I rarely have chocolate like once a week at the most. I tried eating five meals a day but it did not work out for me because I still ended up eating the same amount I normally eat at dinner and none less

I only work abs with weights every four days so should I work them with weights more or what should I do?

what you posted above couldn't be 70% of that..also your timing and portion sizes probably need some work

I counted calories and...

Protein Shake = 260 cals

Deli Sandwich = 700 cals

Dinner = 1300-1600 cals

When you eat.

Post by Dixon »

Often times its not what you eat but when you eat it. It doesn't matter if you are trying to burn fat or gain muscle. Five to six meals a day are better then three. And if you are trying to burn fat then you don't need to eat less calories in the five meals then you would in three. If you are eating the same amount of calories but are spacing the meals out better you will get better results.

That doesn't mean that you can eat as many calories as you want in the five or six meals. It just means that if your calorie consumption for three meals is ok then the same amount will work better divided among more meals.

Assuming you're adding the calories from each meal, to the previous meals calories, would I be right in saying you eat 1,600 calories a day, and not 1,600 calories for dinner?

HOUSTON TEXAN I usually eat 2800 to 3200 calories a day.
I believe 1600 is for that one meal.

I'd forgotten he'd posted that other thing about 3,200 a day, I thought maybe he'd worked his ratios out wrong, and recalculated perhaps.

If that is 1,600 in on meal, that's definitely too much, and no good.

Yea

Yea, he is eating 1/2 his calories in one meal. That is not a good breakdown. It doesn't really matter what your training goals are. Dividing up your calories like that isn't a good thing.

Definitely, he's got some kind of Macro problems, and probably bad meal spacing too.

Well the thing is I am still in high school and teachers don't let me eat in class.

The reason why I eat so much for dinner is because I workout between lunch and dinner.

you may need some meal replacments meals such ad fruit and protein smoothies in that case but as much as you can have real food...make up a big meat and sald roll and have half every hr or so etc...things that you can eat quickly but only for times where you can't eat properly
