Protein Powders??

Hey I was just wondering if a protein powder would benefit me. I am 16 and I am not trying to get huge but lose body weight and add some mass. I ve noticed some changes after working out for 2 months (more so when i flex) but nothing too drastic. If so what type should i get and when should i drink it?? thanks,

Do you know how much protein you are getting per day now? Supplements are not absolutely necessary, but can be beneficial, especially right after weight training.
favorite is GNC's complete. It's a mix of whey, soy and casein. A lot of people really like Syntrax.

Im not too sure how much protein im getting per day but i think its quite a bit. Im not looking to get too bulky but i do want some muscle mass. I think I may just carry routine out a bit longer and see the results without a powder and then get one if nescesary. If you have any other tips for me while working out they would be appreciated. It may be a good idea to speak with a registered dietitian to determine how much protein you are eating daily. Chances are you are getting more than enough. Most athletes and active people consume far too much protein, and in doing so, reduce the intake of other essential nutrients. Eating too much of one nutrient forces you into eating less of something else that may be equally important. If you are eating adequate calories, you are most likely getting enough protein. You will be better served by eating a diet high in carbohydrates because they are protein sparing meaning protein will be spared from being burned and can be used for more important functions. Excess protein is stored as fat or burned for energy which in turns causes a lot of metabolic waste. Extra protein intake alone will not support a larger muscle mass but additional total calories will.
