Surely the humble Crunch must have some redeeming features. After all if you do 300 a day, you can get a stomach like Peter Andre, if I've remembered correctly

Like Swanso said, oblique load plays a part in their stimulus. If you did Side Bends with no weights, maybe a couple of times a week in a Class, you wouldn't do much to them, maybe just condition them slightly, but if you weight the Bends, you could just get a bit of a Blocky waist, and Side Bends are probably I think the most commonly employed method, for Oblique training.
So I'd say you could train Obliques, but do it bodyweighted. As long as you have good development of things like Abs, Erector Spinae, Illiocostals etc etc, you'll be fine.
Mr.swan I have read allot of your post on this site. I see regulary you post that sit-ups crunches are useless, and you post squats, sprints, as some of your keys to six pack abs, I am trying to just loose the beer and for years coaches and trainers have said to do sit-ups and now your telling me that doing sit-ups or different variety of crunches and they will not make me lose the belley. Or are you talking crunches are uselee for trying to get a six pack look? CONFUSEDswanso5 wrote:crunches are the most useless exercise on the earth...
