Can I change body SHAPE?

Post by FeeFee »

is this even possible?

let me give you an idea of body type/shape: I'm 5ft 10 or 11, I have broad shoulders, a wide-ish mid-section with powerful thighs that look naturally muscular in the quads...I think I kind of look like a swimmer, only with more body fat.

what I hate MOST is the very little waist definition. Therefore, it makes me look straight up and down whether or lose or gain weight; its worse when I lose, because hips get narrower and so it looks like the same width as waist.

question is, are there any exercises that I can do (strength-training specifically) to sort of re-shape mid-area so it looks narrower?

you can't change bone structure (shoulders, hips, thighs) but you can change muscle shape/definintion by building muscle where you need to and then slicing the off the area's you need to

to decrease waist you'll need to eat clean and train hard and consistently...maybe try stomach vaccums i the meantime but also hold your TA in everyt exercise you do as well as during the day

I feel your pain, I think I am thick waisted too. I had one trainer
suggest we go heavier on the lats and legs to make the waist seem
smaller.
The only thing I've done that seemed to make this area smaller
was sprinting twice a week in addition to other cardio and
weight workouts. I eat clean 99% of the time and do a lot of ab
training also.
I'll be checking to see what others suggest also...

thanks for the responses....anyoen else?
the thing is, its not the "thickness" per se, because even when I am quite slim, no fat on the abs etc...its just that the width in the waist is just too similar to that of the hips.

hips and waist are different site remember...your hips you can;t change but your waist you can for that hour glass figure...if it's the waist causing problems (from button to strenum) than diet is the problem i'd say and that can easily be fixed

I have pretty much the same body shape. Makes me look like a stick. Lately I've been doing lots of shoulder exercises, so now I look wider at the top.
