For volume, endurance, high reps, low reps, strength [some of all these might be synonymous].... how much should i rest ???
Here is what happens to me sometimes: Let's say that i have to do 10reps of an exercise. I can do 10 reps with 100lbs (100% effort) and then i need 4 mins rest or i wont be able to make the whole 10reps of the next set, or i could do 80lbs in the first place and only need 1min of rest. What's best???

heavy wt / low reps for strength - 3mins +
moderate wt / moderate reps for hypertrophy - 30 - 90secs depending on program and exercises
light wt / high reps - 2mins but not sure why you'd want to do this anyway
if you always wait until your fresh enough to do 10 reps than the body will never change as you aren;t making it...use 90secs rest between sets and simply get 1 more rep than last time...so if you gat 10, 9, 7 you only need to get at least 10, 10, 7 to progress but if you can get more go for it...once 3 x 10 is reached increase wt and go again
