Uh-Oh...

Post by (Rage) »

So it's Ramadan time, a month, where I have to fast from about 6 am in the morning, when I wake up Until abt 6 30.

It's just how it is.

It's been 4 days now, and the things I'm suffering with is;
Bathroom problems.

food is moderate. I don't over-eat, and I still eat healthy food. Eat veggies, and fruits, and get protein..but of course nutrition wont be the same, since I have about 5-6 hours to eat only. So I eat 3 meals, 1st is a little big, then the 2nd is light, the 3rd is moderate.

I try to get as much as water as I can get. But its hard to drink so much as well. I get about 1.5 liters, which I think is decent under the circumstances.

How can I deal with the constipation? The only thing I went in 4 days was after I took a pill for it!

What to do?

Are you eating your legumes? I'm not sure about the region, but I have some great recipes from Lebanon that may help. #1 on list to solve that problem: ful madamas. It's heavy, but full of fiber and may help ease things along. I'd say up the legumes and keep up with the water. Those 2 things combined should help. Hope your feeling better.

Eh, its hard to get abt 26 grams of fiber so it works...u know? i'm suffering..a lot..cuz i hate the fact im eating, and not getting it out, and eating more..thats why i always gain weight/ when it's our fasting month!

So depressing ='(.

And aww swanso...yeah ,but don't forget, naps are included =D! I do spend the most tiring time awake since its uni...6 30 am till 2 30..then i get back home sleep...and wake up, do some stuff for a while, then eat =D!..Simple. lol..but it's a killer...haha.

Hey Rage, Arabic is rusty, but the "ful", is fava beans. I use chick peas (like hummus) and fava beans (you need the small dry ones), dried is best, you just soak them in hot water overnight. In the morning, put fresh water in the pot just to cover the beans and cook them with salt until they get soft and mushy. Add garlic to your taste and spices if you like. Eat them with lemon, olive oil and fresh tomato slices. Made like that, this is regional to some places in the south of Lebanon.
For 100 grams you get about 27 gram P, 15 F (all healthy) and 47 C, plus 7 grams of fiber. This should be your last meal, the carb up will help hold you through your fast. Don't worry about the fat, it's the good kind that doesn't stick to the !
If you switch to eating more legumes during the fast, put away the scale. Your weight will fluctuate for a bit and that bugs some people.

Yes, Ful, I know it ...thanks for the suggestion really. I hope it will work.
weight always go up in Ramadan, and I'm okay with it, cause I'll just work off afterwards to lose what I gain, which is usually 3 kgs, although I lost a little weight today =S!

Thanks again, I'll look in to it..I usually eat late at night, cause I don't have the choice to eat in the morning, like early morning, cause I have to wake early for university and I need sleep as much as everything else. Thats another problem, which is to sleep after I eat in a while. Like about 30-45 minutes.

It's definitely a messy month, but it's just a month.

Sounds like your keeping your diet clean, so you should not really gain to much weight, but you will have an imbalance until your body adapts to it's new feeding schedule. You might feel better though if you are able to get up a half hour before sunrise and eat something, just to get you thru classes. Anyways, like you say, it's only a month!

at least get a peice of fruit or a glass of milk when you get up...it's most important to eat as soon we get up, not 30min later to get metabolism going...do you get "blocked up" every ramadan??? if so you might need to do a like cleanse before hand (fruit, veg only type of thing for 1 - 3 days)
