Great Results but now what???

Post by Darth Daul »

I have been doing full body workouts 3 times a week for 6 months and I'm very happy with the results. Throughout the 6 months I've increased bench press weight more than 100lbs and increased military press by over 60 lbs, as well as good progress throughout full body. BUT now problem is I think I've over worked myself and left shoulder hurts too much to do a chest or shoulder workout. I took a week and a half off from exercising altogether, hoping it would get better but no change.

What kind of stretches would you suggest I do to help this problem with shoulder? Also should I give body more rest and do nothing for a few weeks or keep doing workout but not shoulders and chest (or very light chest and shoulders)?

Thank you for any input you give me

Darth,

Any injuries should be dealt properly and its advisable to get it checked...rest does not help every time which I learned through by elbow problem..

Also where does it exactly hurts in shoulder ?

as above what does it hurt to do shoulder wise...move it around different ways and get back to me...

in the meantime eliminate all chest and delt work...maybe able to do some back stuff and db leg work as well as stabilisation core stuff can be done in the meantime...and as much as i hate to say it, arm work too

great progress though....

It’s kind of hard to describe...
The pain is mainly on the top of the shoulder. When I'm doing bench press it hurts more when I'm pushing then when I'm releasing back down to chest. Also if I do shrugs (without wait) and "roll" shoulders rather than a strait up and down motion, left shoulder clicks(the sore one).

Hope that helps

Sounds like a rotator cuff problem. Try doing exercises to rehabilate a rotator cuff for a couple of weeks. Also apply ice daily several times throughout the day(10min on, a few off and so on), take aspirin too. If all that doesn't help matters, then I would see a doctor.

Would you mind giving me what your full body workout programs look like. I just like seeing other peoples workouts. Thanks

If it is coming from the top of the shoulder, it could possibly be the AC ligament. The reason that I say this is because I just went to the doctor about 10 days ago for the same thing. Here is a link to a site that you may want to take a look at. Hope it helps.
