Im 5'7 and 193lbs..Im trying to tone body up and turn fat into muscle. I've read alot of articles that say that you should eat an extra 500 calories if you want to gain muscle. question is should I go on a diet and still weight lift or do I need to eat more in order to get stronger. I don't want to get big I want a lean body. By incorporating cardio and lifting weight will I still get lose weight and get toned up?? any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
don't eorry about the 500 cal surplus, to tone up you need to be in a cal deficit but you'd probably do fine simply by making better food choices...don't siet just get 80% of yourt food from fruit, veg, salad and solid food protein...and do more wts than cardio
Hey thanks alot for the fast reply. I was wondering since body is already big would just lifting weights make it bulky? I don't want to look bulky, I just want a lean look...? any advice?? thanks
If you have a nice layer of fat over your muscles, yes, you might look bulky, but it is very temporary. A lot of people (mostly women) get worried around the 4-6 week mark into a program because they feel too big in the arms (usually) or legs. I mean, it depends on so many factors like diet and genetics, but if you stick with a solid exercise program and clean diet, the fat will burn off.
Good luck, set a goal and go for it.
