Hi ladies,

Shebia, congrats and I did the same when I was in 50s and have continued into 60s.

Chris, I see you got some good walks in on Wednesday and Thursday; and Friday too, I see. Congrats. I see showery and humid day too. Oh Chris, I love curtains.....they have blinds on the sliding glass doors here and they are alright but rather have curtains. However, with the washing machine here you wouldn't be able to wash the kind of ones I'd want. So blinds remain LOL

Have fun at the highland games this weekend. Oh I love it Chris, "bagpipes and drummers and guys in kilts toss various heavy things" Yeah I think I'd be smiling too.....Duncan McCloud of the clan McCloud (from years ago) would be a great addition.

Thanks Chris, on the sleep as you can see it's another Saturday night of being up again. Such is life.

I see Friday you headed for the lake due to the heat. It's been triple digits here all week and 105 plus most of it too. AQ is very very bad....due to the fires. Wish we'd get rain but not in our forecast for a long time unfortunately.

Well I am off to comics......hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Take some "me time" on Sunday.....I will for sure!

Hi All,
Well we had a busy weekend but fun too. I volunteered for our highland games both saturday and sunday morning and spent the rest of the day enjoying the band competitions. I enjoyed the stuff I was doing so I hope it was helpful. :D Bagpipes all weekend and they are still in head. Not everyone's cup of tea but I loved it. Today I got out for a 40 minute walk this morning then out on the bikes with DH (an hour). Back for lunch and rested a bit before I got everyone out the door to go swimming. Nice summer day in mind. :thumb:

later all!

Good Morning all,

Just checking in . I see you had a busy weekend Chris. Lots of fun things to do .

Thank you BossMan on how to add pictures . I will give it a try later today .

Not much going on here . We had Rain for a couple of days and cooler Temps but still in the 80's . Is it time to say , I wish for Fall!!!!!

Sue I am so sorry about the itching and no sleep. Maybe it's the season. . Hugs .

I am still having trouble with knee but not as bad . So as of now no surgery will be required. Thank goodness for that . Knee replacements are no fun . We have been thru it with DIL plus our friend Greg in Alabama .

I am still going to the YMCA and also working out at home. I am wondering (Bossman) if I am doing more damage to myself by taking this SilverSneakers class for weights. We use CAbles, a Small Ball and Dumbbells in it . I only use 5 # at the Y but then the next day I do home workout using 10 and 15 # . I know we should have a day in between working the same muscle group . Any advice would be appreciated . So I do Monday , Wednesday and Friday with heavyier weight at home and on Tuesday and Thursday I use the lighter weights at the Y .

I am almost finished with 100 day Challenge , and am glad . Day 78 . The Challenge was to walk at LEAST one mile a day for 100 days and I have made it to day 78. Monday I am starting another challenge but only for 7 days. It is a food challenge . No sugar , no soda, no pasta, no bread , no red meat and 30 minutes of exercise a day and 8 cups a water a day . I had 200 plus people sign up to do it with me but most of them won't . This was on facebook. Wish me luck . I need to get rid of a few pounds before going back to the DR in Oct. He is always on me to lose some weight and of course I know I need to . Nn excuses.

Today , I think Hubby will go someplace and watch a baseball game with his buddies. I am just going to get into some things I need to do here at the house . Now that Bossman has explained how to post pictures I will try and put on a few before and after of our new landscaping Wish me luck .

Toodles . (remember who use to close her posts with that on the old Prevention forum )

Afternoon ladies,

A very busy day and also got report for July done up and what's up for August too LOL So here goes.......

Did alright with July workouts.....missed Friday July 13 due to having to vacuum, so did get a workout with the vacuum; missed July 20th another Friday having to go get meds at CVS; missed July 25th due to shopping so did get in a LOT of walking; July 27th I was up all night and did not feel very well; July 30th due to no sleep the night before yet again.

On tap for the month of August I will do Mari Winsor's Pink Workout for abs, legs and arms, for weeks two, three and four along with the cool down. For week 5 in August I will do Mari's Windsor Pilates 20 minute workout.

Weigh Ins for the Month:

7/1/18 Sunday weigh in 112
7/8/18 Sunday weigh in 110
7/15/18 Sunday weigh in 111.5
7/22/18 Sunday weigh in 111.5
7/29/18 Sunday weigh in 112

Food goals: Food goals have not changed but remain the same...continue to take vitamin D, and keep up the increase in the fruits and veggies in diet, and try some different type of veggies, which we have been doing well with. Also continue to try out some different recipes, which had we are bound and determined this year to do better with. I will also continue with the getting in chocolate several times a week. PB is no longer an eating option for me. As for desserts we have made a switch and am keeping portion controls as I need to. Our soups mixed with egg noodles are working out great giving up lots of veggies and the sauce is already included; in addition to getting 2 dinners out of a can. Plus tummy likes it too LOL We will continue to have them over other types of noodles, like little farfalle and ditalini pasta too.

We have made up a number of the following ideas for dinners and just adding to our menu. In addition we have a number of ideas for different bases to go over pasta, making casseroles, etc. Plus making calzones, and pastry filled with vegetables and other filling to add to our diet for even more variety. We did a test one and it worked out great.

Trying to continue a variety of foods in our diet. Doing very well getting fish into diet having it on most Friday's and have also been getting it in during the week also. In addition adding diced peppers, potatoes, corn, spinach and other veggies to go with the fish has worked out well too. Still have had to be careful on portions as stomach still rebels on occasion, hence no weight gain in 2018 and slowly increase portion sizes to maybe put some weight on. Some weeks it goes up but then comes right back down again. Wish me luck.

Hi ladies,

Oh well I slept 3 nights in a row and didn't do as much today, just the super good vacuuming and cooking up sausage. Then mostly on the computer. Was hoping I did as I have top to bottom kitchen this morning, after breakfast, workout and walking up to the office to pay the rent.

Chris, I see you had a weekend last week was a fun one. Oh I would have loved being there to watch the highland games and watching the band competitions too. Oh I am with you Chris, love the music played by bagpipes....were always around at the St. Patrick's day parade in NYC and at many of Irish friends homes. I see you got a nice long walk in and time in on the bikes with your hubby for an hour too. I will you all went swimming too...sounds like a wonderful Monday.

Bama, so nice to see another post by you. Can't wait to see the pics. Send that rain our way. OMG we'd kill for those 80s rather than 106 and more. Heck we are all excited we will be in the 97 on Saturday. We can still get hot days in September but hoping this year Fall starts earlier too.

Nope Bama, it's a part of life period, so trying to figure out how to it. Plus will be seeing doctors about it...as I have a new primary now and new dermatologist too!

Sorry to hear bout the trouble with your knee. Glad no surgery and yeah knee replacement is a last resort. Glad you still are getting to the YMCA and at home too. Bama, so what kind of moves are you doing for the heavier weights and for the lighter weights or the same ones. I assume upper body for one set for MWF and lower body for the other for T-Th workout.

Kudos on almost being done the 100 day Challenge....kudos on the 78.

Boy that food challenge sounds a bit off with drinking that much water. I was told I was drinking too much when I drank that amount so much so I now have to eat pretzels (25 count) for sodium. I do most day but some days I skip, especially if for dinner I will be adding some salt (which I use very lightly these day). As you know due to all the other meds I take I have "high blood pressure"....so it's a no win situation for me. LOL

Good luck with the weight loss.

Was it Carm, Bama? Do tell please before I go nutso LOL

Well I am off to do comics, get stories, check mail etc and then hope to get a couple hours...we shall see. Wish me luck. If I don't get back today wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Well I would heed caution about doing the same thing day after day, because if it's a TBT style workout where you hit all the muscle groups 5 or 6 days in a row, then it's a bit of a risk, because of the lack of muscle rest.

However if you are alternating things then you could get away with a split type workout quite easily.

So your options would be do a 3 day TBT training on alternate days, or this sort of thing.

Day 1. Upper body

Day 2, Lower body

Day 3. Day off

Day 4. Upper body

Day 5. Lower body

Day 6. Day off

Day 7. Day off

Bossman your weight workout looks like the one me and hubby did years ago. It worked out great and got us nice and toned and muscled too. However, we were 30 plus years younger and with lots of energy LOL

Have a great weekend everyone, I had another "no sleep night".

Hi all, I am back to work today after a nice vacation. We are still in our heat wave. It has been the longest wave in recent memory. Oh well no one is complaining about the cold wet summer this year. I am complaining about weight. :( It is not super heavy but I definitely need to remove 10 pounds. It is all sitting right out front. :x I know that is not healthy. Time to do SOMETHING! I will do best and keep you posted.

Hi YAH! Hopefully this week it will cool down a bit for you.

Hi Sue, Bama, Becky, and Mo! :D I hope all is going well!

Good Morning All, I am starting out the week right and doing it slowly. Monday I got out after work and walked for 30 minutes, because if I didn't I would have curled up and went to sleep. Yesterday I walked at lunchtime for 35 minutes. :D Hopefully I can get some stretching in tonight to prevent any injuries. I hope I am on the right track. plan is to start with walking and stretching to get body used to moving again and then add in some body weight exercises and eventually back to weights. Slow and steady!!
Have a great day friends!

Hi ladies,

YAH sorry on the hot summer you are having....and the humidity too. We have been having a hot one too, most in the 104's and above. Some days in the high 90s and to us that is cool LOL well not cool but better than the triple digits. Luckily we have a/c.....wish you had it as would help you cool off better than the fan. Though I know you love your fan for many reasons. Sorry on not seeing the cars. Hope you get to see your sister. bummer on the meteors not being out there.

Chris I saw on our news that you were getting very "hot there" and it's still going on for you all. heart goes out to you. We know from June to September or October we are going to be HOT triple digits so we are used to it. Though some years have been very very bad with 115 plus temps and power outages and just not good. So heart goes out to you. At least our humidity is low though this year seems to be a lot higher than normal.

Chris, Chuck and I in our early years together were going to classes, I never ate breakfast back then, had a glass of milk and cup of tea. Chuck had his coffee. We both had OJ and then off to classes. Most days no lunch either, we grab bags of chips, etc. Some day we would get a sandwich etc.

Then went home and had a big dinner and dessert. I made a couple cakes a week during the winter months. Spring came and we both had those 10 lbs of winter weight with holidays etc.

By the start of summer the 10 lbs were gone plus some some years as we walked a lot across campus for classes all day long.

So don't beat yourself up....just watch what you eat and go back to your walking to work etc and cut down on portion sizes and foods you eat and before you know it you will be a lean mean machine once again.

Chris, bend over and touch your toes a couple times a day. I do that and stretching too....I sent you a link to a bunch of the stretching moves and workouts of that kind you can do.

Let me know when you get it.

Well I am off to a very late lunch today...compliments of hubby......

Have a good weekend everyone......

Hi All,
30 minute of walking on wednesday and thursday too. :thumb: Friday and Saturday nothing. Lots of rain on Saturday and man did we need it. Today I pulled out Hip Hop Abs for a 30 minute cardio and ab workout. This afternoon DH and I went on a hike, got lost and 2 hours later got back to our car. Well it was a good hike.

Thanks Sue the rain dropped our humidity and it was a lovely day here. I checked e.mail and see you sent me the stretching exercises. I will open it tomorrow.
Have a great day all! :sunshine:

Good Morning all,

We have been getting much needed rain also. Nice so we don't have to water our new landscaping .

I just finished a 100 day challenge . Today was last day . It was easy but very committing and I am ready for a short break before I start another one. The 100 day challenge was to walk at least one mile a day for 100 days . Some days I walked more but I always got that one mile in. Did I lose any weight not really as you have to change your eating habits to do that and I didn't do that . Truth be told I usually walk everyday anyway .

Nothing going on here . Same old stuff. Just wanted to stop in and say Hello.

Enjoy the day . I think the rain is done here but it is cooler . Could Fall be arriving early ? I love fall so it would be ok with me.

Hey All,
So this week has not been the best for me exercise wise. :( I did get out for a walk yesterday and one again today. Just keep trying and see where you get.
