I jog a couple of kilometers each morning with dog in a bid to stay in shape, but I've noticed that the 'padding' over stomach just hasn't gone down at all.
I don't have the best diet but I am going to read the nutrition section of this forum after this post.
I have cereal for breakfast.
Lunch is either noodles or a chicken sandwich and a cereal bar.
Evening meal is meat, two veg and potatoes most nights.
I have a set of dumbbells but I'm having a really hard time finding motivation to use them.
I guess at the end of the day I want increase overall upper body mass (I'm skinny I guess you'd call it), I just need to 'want' it more.
Any tips for weight loss/weight routines/staying motivated would be really great... oh, I'm in mid 30's, 5'11 and I weigh 135 lbs if that helps any.
Thanks in advance

You would be best adding a snack between Breakfast and lunch, and Lunch and Dinner, and possibly one about 2-3 hours post dinner.newbie wrote: I have cereal for breakfast. (Fine)

So something like Low Fat Cheese, Berry Fruits, Yoghurt, Low Salt Nuts, etc etc.
I would also drink a glass of water after each of the 5-6 meals, to help metabolise Fat.
Re: To much cardio?
As well as adding snacks to diet I'm also going to alter daily run. I read about intermittent running, so I'll be adding in the odd sprint.
Before I forget... I run about 5-10 minutes after waking on an empty stomach. Is this going to do me any harm? I usually come home from run tired and sweating, but never nauseas or light headed.

try to cut back a little on the potatoes- not only because they're very starchy and are probably a slight hinderince in being able to see muscle definition- but also because an overload of pottasium can actually be bad for the liver.
carrots slow down the metabolism- only slightly, but eat them in moderation
green green green veggies!!! all that fiber flushes you out and helps tremendously in seeing results
