Hi All and Happy Wednesday!! I took the car yesterday but I did get 30 minute walk at lunch time. Today I am walking to and from work and I will get 30 minutes at lunch time too! :D We have a lovely winter day out there and I wouldn't want to waste it by staying inside all day. I do not worry too much about the ice as I have icers when I need them.

I would have to split them up Becky as I do not have much time. :thumb:

Glad you had your son over YAH and have fun at your other son's place. Just like a vacation! :sunshine:

Be back later!

Good Morning Sisters,

Going to try and catch up if memory will allow me.

Yah, check out Silversneakers on you tube . There are a lot of short workouts on there . I'm sure you can find one you will like . They are not hard as they are for us Seniors. Glad you are going to get away for awhile . UP is beautiful so I hear. Husbands family is from Traverse city and Sister and family also live in Michigan , they younger ones love it there as they snowmobile etc . Sister would like to move more south but probably won't.

Wow Mo that is a lot of money for a septic tank . I know you are anxious to get moving and be settled again. WE are just casually looking at Condos . Probably won't move but it would be nice to have everything outside done for you. They are small though .

Sue so sorry you are having sleeping problems . I know the feeling on that . I still don't sleep a lot but what I do sleep is usually a good sleep. Jealous of your weather . This week we have had warmer temps but sitll no spring in site .

Chris good job on the walking . I split up workouts also . Try to get a little something in the afternoon done. Strength training is very important and you should try to do some . As we age are muscles start to decrease and we don't need them to do that . A lot of workouts on you tube to get you started . If you have a gym or Y near by it would be good to hire a PT for a couple of sessions to learn the proper form.

Mo I agree on the walking lunges , I think they are to hard for a lot of us in class . I never did like them . One of ladies is 96 and will be 97 in July . The one instructor does have us do a few by our chair and she is the one we all love . She is a joy to workout with and always says to just do what you can . The other just doesn't have the personality but I go because it is closer to the house . We alternate the two Y's . This summer I think we will do the one that is farthest from the house (30 minutes away) one way.

Hi Becka Hope you are doing well.

Well I have lost 8 pounds since i gave up Sweets. I am trying for 20 by April 19 (doctors appointment) I am tired of him telling me I need to !!!!!!. Knee is better sill a little stiff and still have some pain but I can live with it.

workout buddies who are cousins and both like to bake!!!!!!!!!! So i got cookies and candy from the one for Valentines Day and the other one gave me a huge loaf of homemade Maraschino Cherry Bread. Oh goodness it was wrapped so pretty and I broke down and had a slice . The rest will go in the freezer . Dh ate some of the cookies and lucky for him and me they had raisins in them (we don't like)so he only ate a couple and i ate none but will put them in the freeze.
Our water heater is going on the blink so we had a plumber out and he was supposed to come back and drain it but has not . Probably will need a new one in the long run but he suggested doing that first . It has been two weeks or more and he had not been back . One the water gets low it becomes rusty and has rust in it so we have learnt that we can get two showers out of it and then it needs to refill . DH keeps forgetting to call him . I need to remind him again today . I don't know what he would do without me!!!!!

Family is all good. Son comes over once a week and we go for coffee or maybe to the grocery store .

Daughter i haven't seen since Christmas . She lives a little farther away and is going to school plus working so I know she is busy plus Chloe Gdaughter is into way to much I think . Dylan GSon is senior , has a girl friend and is still in ROTC and works at Krogers. The other GDaughter is still playing basketball which seems to be her passion. She is quite tall , much taller then her Mother and myself only 13 so I don't think she is finished growing.

Hope you all had a lovely Valentines Day .

Take care .

Well I hope you all had a nice Valentine's day as I think I did as it was over son's house:) He worked but got to see him in mornings and after 9 pm at night until late anyway:) Was sunny etc. so I did get to a few stores but legs are kind of bad to walk with it seems:( So I relaxed and enjoyed his place and let the cat out in the sunshine a few times too:) But, I'm home again today, stayed an extra night over son's though;) But I know I got to start packing and I'm not very good at that:) For a few weeks over Ds's place while she recuperates so not sure what I will bring. At least I can wash clothes there too and takes showers a lot also:) I feel good for now anyway. sis has a small trapoline in her spare room etc. so I will use that as much as I can. And check out youtube also for anything while there. Maybe I'll get to ask some questions from the therapist or? when they come to see here? Hoping your all doing great as you seem to all do and I guess we will get some more snow start of next week but I'm hoping for a good day to drive up north as they get a Lot more then us and I don't like snowy roads anymore with van I guess. Its front wheel drive anyway but....take care all and watch the ice:) CU :coffee: :sunshine:

Hi ladies,

Time for me to catch up........

Sorry to hear about the computer issues Molasses. I have to update Firefox but Chuck said wait and he wants to do some stuff before it's done. I said fine.

Molasses, yes we get HOT but remember it's a very dry heat so your 90 in NJ with 75% humidity is hotter than we are for sure. As our humidity is very very low when we start hitting triple digits, so while it's 101 our real free is more like 80 and a dry 80.

Having grown up on L.I. and NYC and especially L.I. surrounded by water where in August it's 95 with 90% humidity. You walk out of the air conditioned house and sweat is pouring down your body.

In addition everything is air conditioned here and it's freaking freezing. I go to the doctor's offices, stores, etc with a light summer jacket on top of shirts.

I see you are a Pink fan too.

Yeah you are right Molasses, forgot about the drug name.

I am with Molasses, Chris, I hope you don't get the normal symptoms.

I hope it all goes well for you with the house selling Molasses and moving to MN.

Hope the radon remediation company fixed it. I am very sorry to hear about your son and his girlfriend. HUGS to him and you as I know you feel his pain too.

Hoping the 30 day trial of a ketogenic diet helps with your migraines. How about some crab and lobster, Molasses, would they work??? Not sure what's in the diet but when I buy tuna I also buy crab and lobster too sometimes. I buy the Trans Ocean ones not the canned type.

Yeah I have to resort and bag up all of our stuff and get it out and ready and call the Salvation Army.

YAH I see you got have some visits from your son and you went to visit too and your hubby worked hard all his life. Sounds like grandma and her brothers and sisters years back in NJ. She was born back in 1910 in Trenton on a farm and had 24 sisters and brothers. Half of Trenton is made up of our relatives LOL

Yeah me too YAH, once March gets here I will start appointments again....just with this flu stuff we don't go out unless we have to. Plus doctor's office is the last place I want to be. I will be talking to the dermatologist about the "barnacles of life" and getting them off.....as I wake up scratching them and making many of them bleed, which is NOT good.

Yup Bekah a weekend in California and like our neighbor who is a youngun you'd have shorts and a tank top on too LOL at 50 degrees. Though today we headed for 70.....gotta love California.

Chris, what kind of weight workout are you thinking of.....I see you got some good walks I last week.

Not been a good month for sleeping YAH.

Chris, glad you got a nice 30 minute walk at lunch and on Valentine's day you walked to and from work.

Thanks on the sleeping problems, Bama, I know you have had them too. Yeah we are not having much of a winter this year....however, not complaining as our utility bills are lower too. As I said 70 today and our trees have the cotton buds on them (not real cotton but looks like it from far away....can't remember the name of them....gosh I hate when that happens.

Kudos on those 8 pounds and hope you can get to your goal for the doctor's visit. I can remember Dr. on Long Island saying something to me in the winter when I had gained about 10 pounds; which usually happened as I wasn't outside doing yard work, swimming, bicycling etc. Now mind you he was a good 250 lbs and not in a good way so I gave him a look and said, mine will be gone come Spring....how about yours Dr. C.....he'd just laugh ....oh and he smoked too while we had our visit and then had the audacity to tell me to quit. I said I will, if you will and that shut him up real quick. He was a hoot....I really liked him. Didn't pull any punches and was a good doctor.

OMG Bama, I'd be dangerous around all those goodies you got.....and I love raisins.....

Sorry about the water heater and hope the guy comes back to drain it.

HUGS on not seeing your daughter a lot and the kids too....sounds like they are all very very busy with school and outside activities.

Glad you got to your son's house for Valentine's Day, YAH and had such a good time. Plus I see you got to the stores too. I know the cat enjoyed that getting out in the sunshine. Glad you got to stay another night. Wish I was there to help you pack, as mom, grandma and Chuck said "can you please pack mine too" which I did! LOL

I see you have it all planned at your sister's just be careful on the trampoline. Hope you have a good day to drive up and your stay and your sister's recuperation goes well.

Well I am all caught up and off to meds, breathing and all that stuff after a mail check.

Have a nice weekend......take some "me time"

Hope you all are enjoying your ME day? We've had a few sunny days at least but not High temps of course, but now its cloudy but seems warm with almost 20 degrees:) And snowing on and off today with more snow Mon. and Tues. I sure hope its nice for me to drive old van up north to DS's by Thurs. at least. She has surgery Wed. and should be out by Sat. I guess. Course lots of times its nice here but a whole different world half way there:( Will be checking the MTU web cams to see I guess. I will take laptop as I think she has wifi there. No tv distractions there at least and her dog is gone until the 3rd of March, which I hope is not too early for her but that is when her DD said they'd bring it back when they go see snow sled dog races up there. We had our Marq. ones here this weekend. Thousands turned out for it. But I was on way home from son's house:( Would have had to walk quite a ways as they put snow down on main street there and no parking etc. except farther away. The last of the dogs should be coming in now I imagine.
Wow Sue, as usual you sure keep a good journal for your food intake and all. I would eat more though if you need to gain some:) But I know, our tummies sometimes don't agree:( I'll have to weigh myself before going up north as I Might lose some:) sis is glucose intolerant etc. so not sure what we will be eating although I will go grocery store on way up too:) Bought some Zone bars but can't stand them with the choc. they have on them:( They were choc. and peanut butter so bringing them up for anyone:) Maybe I'll try different things there as will be nice to have a woman to see what can be made:))
Hi to Chris, Bama, Beckah and Mo also, hope all is going good with you?
Great on the weight loss Bama too! Mo, I noticed on a map that Virginia, Mn. is a bit higher up north then MTU even in the C.C.:) Do they get a lot of snow there. Wonder how ??? is doing in Ely, Mn?? Name will not come to me right now:)) I think you know who I'm talking about though?:) take care all now and enjoy your day! C U :coffee:

Hi ladies,

Another one of those nights......what else is new lately it seems.....I had a nice "me day" YAH. Glad you had some sunny days hope your temps move up a bit for you soon. I hope it's nice for you to drive to your sister's too on Thursday. Hope it's alright in your sister's area for you. Also hope her surgery goes well. Oh her poor doggy is going to miss her a lot for sure. Wow a good turnout for the snow sled dog races for Marq I see.

If I eat too much YAH then stomach rebels and other systems aren't happy either and I have to take Tums and gas pills. Plus so many things that "never bothered me" are now "bothering me" ain't old age grand NOT!!!

I see your sister is glucose intolerant...that's hard. I like chocolate but can't eat peanut butter any more I cried when it happened.....as I loved it so much. Oh well. I still have chocolate. Oh me too YAH I recognize Ely, Mn but can't remember the person either.

Well it's 2:33 a.m. and I am up again....such is life. I am off to get stories down, do comics and check mail and give it another try.

We are going down to 28 tonight here.....brrrrr our heat was just on again and just went off. Oh well warm to all of you in a lot colder places than us.

Hope everyone has a nice Tuesday.

Good morning, everyone,

I hope you are all having a good week! :) We had two days of summer but I think are back down to the 40s today. It was nice to have the windows open, but I'm not ready for spring temps and rains yet.

I can see where a condo would be appealing, Bama. Yay on giving up sweets helping with the weight loss! So nice you get to see your son regularly even though your DD has been busy. :sunshine:

Thanks for the Firefox suggestion, Sue. I do update regularly. Maybe uninstalling and trying again would help, but I'm just adapting to Edge instead. :? Thanks for the good thoughts for son. I spoke to him last week and he sounds like he is doing okay. He has a lot of friends to do things with, but then again, that's one reason I like him to have a gf--less going out! :P Lobster and crab sound yummy, but I've ditched the keto already! Too much other stuff going on to mess with that at the moment. I might try again later, we'll see.

The radon guys came the day we had water in the basement, even though I had emailed to let them know it was wet. Of course, the guy said it was too wet to do anything down there. Haven't heard from them since, so will follow up next week if they don't reach out by tomorrow.

I have so much stuff piled up in the living room for Sat.'s VVA pick up that I wouldn't want anyone here before that anyway. DH has been bringing boxes down from the attic and 90% of it is stuff I don't want or need. I have at least 30 boxes and black garbage bags of stuff ready to donate. And an overflowing garbage can as well! There was stuff up there from in-laws, old polyester clothes, cancelled checks. . . .

Yay on the walking and getting your fluids in, Chris! :thumb:

YAH, wishing you a safe trip and a wonderful visit with your sister. :)

Hey, Miss Bekah, how are you doing?

Wishing you all a great weekend~

Hi All,
I have been MIA a bit. We have had some freeze thaw cycles here making for some slippery sidewalks. So I haven't had too much walking it seems. Today is much better! :D I walked to work and to an extended walk at lunch time. walking buddies were headed out to eat but I decided not to join them. It was a lovely 45-50 minute walk for me instead. :D I also get to walk home as well.

Wow Mo!! :wowzer: That is a lot of stuff. I'll bet it feels good to send it on its way.

I have to keep going but will check in later.

Hi ladies,

Molasses, I see you had some of our weather back there. We are going to get the wet stuff this week and back to the low 30s again earlier in the week. Rain is scheduled for the day we shop, of course.

I see you updated your Firefox. I will ask Chuck as when I said should I just update he said no wait as they are some other things that have to be changed; so once we do it...I will send you an email.

Don't know Edge....I am sure Chuck does but unknown to me LOL Glad yours on is doing okay and glad he has a lots of friends....let's hope they go out quietly LOL Sorry on the keto!

DUH on the radon guys....they should have read their email. I hope you reached them and have an appointment scheduled.

I feel for you on the VVA pick up as we have done the same with our donations on occasion....piled up to the rafters. The biggest was the gym the that Boys and Girls Club came to get out of the house back in Sacto when we were moving to Lousy .

We have a bunch of stuff to get together, along with the bags already filled to get off to the Salvation Army.

Wow you have us to beat and back.....in the donation department. Ah yes polyester and if you smoked you were in trouble LOL

I was wondering what happened to you Chris, but you beat me in posting before I got to send out an email to see if you were alright.

Yikes on the freeze/thaw cycles....I feel for you. Yeah makes it a bit too dangerous for walking. Glad Thursday was better; I see you got to walk to work and for lunch time too. Kudos on the 45-50 minute "walk for me" instead.

Well I am off to do a mail check and answer those, plus get the stories sent out too.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Hi All,
We are having some lovely days here now. It is feeling like spring. :sunshine: I know we will have snow for a while yet but there is hope. :D On the weekend I got out for one walk with DH. Yesterday and to day I walked to work and home again. I had to pull out the rubber boots for the walk home as the sun is making some big puddles during the day.
I hope you are all doing well!

Hi ladies,

It's raining it's pouring the old man is snoring.....and it's freaking cold and damp LOL

Chris, so glad to hear your weather is nice and Spring like, shouldn't complain as we need the water and for the most part a very mild and pretty nice winter so far.

I see you and hubby got out for a nice walk and you walked to work and back today. Ah yes remember those rubber boots for and Chuck's walks into the UofR Med Center.

I see you are doing well and pretty good here except for that "old age" stuff LOL

Wishing everyone a nice day and evening too.

Hi ladies,

Well I got leggings and top in to do workouts in the cool, damp weather here we have been having and are forecasted to have more of....so I am now ready to get back to something than other than just walking. Since I haven't done that much I figured Mari was perfect person to pick.

So here's February's report and March's workouts.......hope all of you are doing well. Have a great evening. Sue

=============================================================================================

February Report

For February I continued walking on MWF in addition to the shopping days we had where we got a lot of walking in and RLW with cleaning, vacuuming etc. I only had to skip walking on Wednesday Feb. 28 due to be awake all night on Tuesday. Most of the RLW's were on Tuesday and Thursday with only one on Friday for vacuuming after having shopped on a Thursday.

On tap for the month of March which will start on Monday, March 5th, will be favorite lady and some Winsor Pilates (the original workout she started with) 20 Minute workout for the first 2 weeks on MWF and for T-Th will get a walking workout of 15 minutes in (most likely after lunch) since the mornings always seem to be filled with chores LOL

For the last 2 weeks of the month The Mari Windsor Pilates for Pink Workout with the band and do abs, legs and arms with the resistance band, with a warm up and cool down.

Weigh Ins for the Month:

2/4/18 Sunday weigh in 114
2/11/18 Sunday weigh in 113
2/18/18 Sunday weigh in 113
2/25/18 Sunday weigh in 113

Food goals: Food goals have not changed but remain the same...continue to take vitamin D, and keep up the increase in the fruits and veggies in diet, and try some different type of veggies, which we have been doing well with. Also continue to try out some different recipes, which had we are bound and determined this year to do better with. I will also continue with the getting in chocolate several times a week. PB is no longer an eating option for me. As for desserts we have made a switch and am keeping portion controls as I need to. Our soups mixed with egg noodles are working out great giving up lots of veggies and the sauce is already included; in addition to getting 2 dinners out of a can. Plus tummy likes it too LOL We will continue to have them over other types of noodles, like little farfalle and ditalini pasta too.

We have made up a number of the following ideas for dinners and just adding to our menu. In addition we have a number of ideas for different bases to go over pasta, making casseroles, etc. Plus making calzones, and pastry filled with vegetables and other filling to add to our diet for even more variety. We did a test one and it worked out great.

Trying to continue a variety of foods in our diet. Doing very well getting fish into diet having it on most Friday's and have also been getting it in during the week also. In addition adding diced peppers, potatoes, corn, spinach and other veggies to go with the fish has worked out well too. Still have had to be careful on portions as stomach still rebels on occasion, hence no weight gain in 2017 and slowly increase portion sizes to maybe put some weight on. Some weeks it goes up but then comes right back down again. Wish me luck.
