Just an update here for me. I have been forgetting to drink again. So I need to push myself to get into that. Monday nothing for exercise, Tuesday and Wednesday I walked to work and home again (at least, I will later as I have to get home somehow  ). I am going to try a 3 day split and start doing some weight work. Some will be body weight to begin with I am sure. I will let you know where I get to with this.

Morning ladies,

Another night with not much sleep...wanted to stop by and say Hi and wish you all a good day. Chris, kudos on the walking and workouts. I feel for you on the drinking of water.....I have slacked off too so need to get back on the stick. However, have to be careful as I was overdoing it and had low sodium levels (hence the pretzel snack every day to get more sodium in me) so be careful and you might want to get your sodium levels checked.

Well off to do other checks and all as since I didn't sleep till after 3 a.m., and Chuck let me we are later than usual....such is life...

A good day to all,

Sue

Hi, everyone,

Sorry about the lack of sleep again, Sue. :( And the low sodium levels.

Sounds like a good plan, Chris ~ good luck with it. :thumb: Yay on the bargains and all the walking and fresh air!

Hope the snow missed you, YAH, since it sounds like you weren't looking forward to it. (I sure hope it dumped on the Iron Range to insulate the water pipes for little house! ) Not too great a game for the Vikings on Sunday. :(

Bekah, grandparents moved from northern MN to IA when grampa retired because the taxes were lower in IA. They had quite a bit of land in MN so maybe they paid quite a bit in property taxes, I don't know. Although they bought 4 acres in IA, too, so who knows!

Hope all is well, Bama, and your knee is healing.

I did get 6 big trash bags ready for DH to take to the shredding on Sat. I hope the county has another event soon; that was only about half of what we've got. I cleared several grocery bags worth of stuff out of the bathroom linen closet today, too. I don't know how I had gotten all that stuff in there ! Yesterday I had review at work, which went well. I got raises both on the floor and PT, not that it really matters at this point! Now I'm working on the basement. We have a radon remediation company coming Friday to install a mitigation system; I'm not sure where they are going to want to put it, so am trying to free up all the outside walls. Guess I'd better get back to work.

Wishing everyone a night of solid sleep and sweet dreams~

Sorry about the sleep too Sue. I actually have a hard time sleeping at night a lot too.

Sue i tell mom she is so organized she is unorganized when she can't find something. :funny:

Chris kudos on starting body weight exercises soon and the walking. I"m aiming to quit the soda again and drink water and body weight exercises and the TM 30 minutes a day. Those are goals right now. maybe we can support each other along the way.

I didn't know MO your house is in the iron range. The vikings game was awfull.... I love the vikes. I grew up watching them. But they always seem to freeze or fail in the playoffs if they make it that far. All life they have anyways. we still have the superbowl here in 11 days in minneapolis. :sunshine:

I've posted a lot today but i do want to keep staying off line more. i really want to go back to work! hopefully i feel better tomorrow.

Have a nice evening. :sunshine:

Hi and hope you all had a good week, almost over;) Mo and Becky, yep Vikings lost:( Son by there was hoping as it would have been nice for them to play in their own field then:) But, I told son to send a pic which he hasn't yet, but heard Mn. or down by him got a few feet of snow!!? Can't believe it but saw a time lapse video of it so not sure but I knew I saw a blizzard warning for that area before. Did you get any Becky where you are? GB did not get any this time, just rain and was a little icy on sidewalks when son went work there but I know there was snow north of them. Mo, we got about 8 inches and more east and west of us though. No, I love to see snow as I'm stuck inside anyway:) Makes me feel better since I Know I can't go anywhere then?:) Since I don't go even when really nice out:( problem I guess.
Sue, hoping you get more good sleep nights then bad. I'm sure the dampness is not great either. I guess you need the rain though?
Mo, for sure the snow is good for insulation as I think as we didn't get much very early but it was SO cold, this Spring is going to be a lot of frozen pipes in town for sure:( We don't get any problem with that here, just bad water:) sis is sure getting enough snow though. I guess she is going for her other hip surgery around Feb. 21st so I guess I will go up and be there for her this time. Not sure what I can do but, I can watch her dog while she's probably in hospital for a few days and then be there for stuff until it gets better. DB is up there so he can do the driving to get stuff:) Unless very good roads I don't drive on those hills. I'm hoping to take van as I like to have stuff in it etc. with me, but DB will come get me if bad weather. he drives all over and anytime;) I sure hope this hip goes as good as the other one did. I guess bone on bone etc.:(
Its knees and legs that are the bad part of me, not hips so far. And then lower back on right side sure hurts, but not always when up and doing things:(
Chris, sounds like your walk to work and back is a lot as it is at least:) But, I'm sure you get a lot just doing the everyday things too and just got to drink the water or liquid stuff:) I think I need to get weights here also, losing muscle fast:( Will have to work on that also.
Bama, hoping your knee is ok or better? I know knee or both are not going to get better but no surgery for me here. After the 3 shots for lubrication? that they have me in 3 weeks, it has gone worse:( I don't go for it anymore. take care and if any ice, watch out ladies:( C U later, :coffee:

Hi ladies,

Another Saturday night with no sleep yet....so .........Time for me to catch up......yikes on the 12 to 15 inches YAH I am hoping they were wrong too. Bummer on missing the fireworks in town. Yeah we don't watch anymore either YAH.

Hope the remotely working at home works out for your son. Ah I see they are looking to move back to U.P. and the area where your DIL grew up. Good schools is very important and she knows them well, which is even better. Yes plus lower prices too....all in the plus column. Plus I see DIL's parents have a nice big house and good for babysitting.

I am with you YAH....go slow with buying a home and look a lot of them. We lucked out as found one but waited to do anything and glad we did as market went wonky and other issues with California back then. Hence our move to Lousy .

We have our renter's insurance here for the apartment and it's actually gone down in amount with our same coverage, so we are happy campers. However, I just thought with Chuck's new computer now and he wants to get me one this year too, I just said to him we should up our insurance again....better safe than sorry I say.

Yeah YAH some weeks are better than others in the sleep department.

Sorry you missed the Hank Now parade.

Glad your son got better so quickly. One of the reasons we are going to wait to go to doctors till mid February as this flu strain is bad and even though we got flu shots....doesn't seem to matter so will wait till the season is over almost or close to being over.

Chris, I see your hubby had the car last Saturday but you got out and did some walking browsing the store and a nice long walk too. Wow great deal in that store. So what did you buy and get, inquiring minds want to know..oh alright just nosey Sue wants to know LOL

Wow nice walking times....kudos to you Chris.

I see you got some walking in again on Tuesday and Wednesday to work and back. Hoping the weight workout works out too.

Molasses, low sodium levels was a while back, but with the pretzels and popcorn they came back up. Will see what happens at the next test.

Wow on those 6 trash bags of shredding Molasses....I have a ton to do myself....all in good time. Wow on the stuff in the bathroom....was it towel stuff or something else?

Kudos on the review at work and doesn't surprise me it was good and glad you got raises for both floor and PT.

So how did the radon remediation company do on Friday? So where did they end up putting it?

Hope you had a good sleep Molasses and sweet dreams.

Thanks Bekah, it seems I have good weeks and bad weeks with the sleep.

Now now now Bekah....us organized people can lose stuff too...usually because "others have been messing around in our "stuff" LOL

Bekah, have you ever tried making your own ice tea up and having that instead of soda. I think I told you about out Diet Dr. Pepper fixation.....the other ladies here know only because of the shock when we said we went through 20 bottles a week each and every week. Hey it's all we drank and we drank a lot. Till it went up in price so high we said....well I can't say what we said. LOL

Hence the diet ice tea and for me regular ice tea. I just use the Lipton ice tea bags. Plus have some Lipton raspberry for lunch. With dinner the diet ice tea that Chuck makes up for both of us. The rest of the night own Lipton ice tea with a squirt of lemon and as Chuck called it....a sprinkle of sugar LOL

Your goals sound great Bekah.....you go girl!

YAH sorry for your son and a foot of snow was the norm every day for many months there in Rochester....I DON'T MISS IT!

Yes we need the rain but and Chuck's body doesn't need the dampness. Now we are going into a dry spell and they say maybe 70 next week....nutso weather.

HUGS on the body parts, YAH I feel for you.

Me too Bama hope your knee is better.

Well I am off.....

Sue i have tried making own ice tea. It still might do that. right now i'm drinking water and i try to have a protein shake a day too.

I am out in the public quite a bit and use hand sanitizer all the time. I still got a minor cold last week though.

YAH we get snow. Over a foot. further north i believe just a little bit north of the cities they only got an inch or two. it hit mostly south.

Some has melted though since we have had some warm days.

Mo will you have to do a lot of improvements to your house in MN? you must enjoy it hopefully!

Well better get back to work. have a nice week!

Bekah, barring any bursting pipes, the house just needs a coat of paint inside to start with. If we are going to stay there, I'll want to redo the kitchen but it's not critical right away. And I want to get an electric sauna in the basement! :D

Glad you are over your cold and ready to get back to work!

Sue, the bathroom stuff was mostly shampoos and lotions and hair products that had parabens and/or pthalates, or make-up that I didn't use. ( mom used to give me all sorts of make-up that she didn't like, and I picked up too many "bargains" myself. Things would be free, or almost, with a sale and a coupon, and I couldn't resist. ) I did have some old towels but I put those aside to run to the animal shelter.

That's a lot of Dr Pepper! Not that I can criticize, given old Tab habit! I'm a tea girl now, too.

The radon system has a tube through the concrete floor near one basement wall, which goes up and outside into another tube outside that goes up the side of the house and ends about 1' above the roof. Not beautiful, but needed to be done!

Hope you got some sleep eventually!

I'm a homebody, too, YAH, but it sounds like you really need to get out once in awhile to keep your spirits up. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time with your sister. Hope her surgery and recovery goes well. I"m sorry you are feeling all those aches and pains, too. Does the cold, damp weather make it worse?

Hi, Chris and Bama--hope you are both enjoying the weekend!

DH is supposed to call a septic company tomorrow to get an estimate on a new septic system. Ours works fine, as far as we know, but it's from 1945 and certainly not up to today's code. If it's not too cost-prohibitive, we might spring for a new one now rather than wait till a buyer's home inspection makes it an issue. :( But we'll see. I really just want to sell fast and get to MN!

Good Morning Sisters, I know I have been missing but have been having mail issues . We know longer have AOL and getting use to another after having AOL for years was an adjustment . I know think I have it all under control LOL.

Nothing new here . We seem to live a boring life. I am still attending The Silversneakers classes but doing workouts at home . This month the weather has been so cold and snowy that we haven't went to many of those classes but as soon as the weather get better we will get there more regular .

I have lost a few months and giving myself until April to lose 20 doctors order . Will be much better for knee he says . and so I just ordered Girl Scouts cookies from Gdaughter !!!!!!!!! Will put them in the freezer when i gt them i have also given up all sweets such as cookies , cake Ice cream as of January 2 . Doing good on that . i am trying bread but that is not working out as well .

Looking forward to spring for sure.

Now I am going back and catch up on the posts.

Ok I've caught up a little . Sue I am so sorry your are not sleeping well. I have those nights from time to time . I still only sleep at the most 6 hours a night but it seems to work for me .

Yah, I agree that you need to get out more . i am a much more stay at home person but I do need to get out some . Sometimes i will just go to the grocery , dollar tree etc and walk around . Of course I usually buy something but it gets me out of the house . Too much snow for me there. We have a lot of relatives in Michigan and they each winter say they are moving south but they never do . Michigan is a beautiful State.

Becky sorry you have a cold . Knock on wood so far so good for me . workout buddy and her husband are getting over the flu and they even got the shot . Something I have never done. Her hubby was down for 3 weeks not as long for her .

Mo, Lol I completely understand about the move . i was so excited to get moved. And the shedding , we must have had 10 trash bags of it to send to the recycle plant . At least 10 carloads of stuff t the local rescue mission . and gave a flat bed of stuff to Greg and Marie who I really miss . As you may remember we only brought what would fit in the car but doing our visits back and forth I brought things up. people that brought our house bought the furniture too. I do miss Alabama and hoping to make a trip back this spring.

Chris good job on the walks and body weight workouts are very good too. At the Y we use light weights, cables and a small ball . At home I use heavier ones. This morning I used 10 and 15# those are the heaviest I have .

knee is somewhat better. last doctors visit I ask for a referral to a orthopedic (?) and Doc said he would only tell me the same think to lose some weight and it would be much better so that is what I am doing . I have lost some but not enough . So I have until April to lose about 15 pounds . I am so tired of the Doctor getting on case for weight !!!!!!!!! I am doing two protein shakes a day One I make myself and the other is one i buy . i love it . Premier Protein I get at sams or walmart Has 30 grams of protein , 1 gram of sugar and low fat with 24 vitamin and minerals. Other then that I am eating normally but less . Portion Control I believe is the way to go . It's all about your mindset . So wish me luck girls .

if I missed anyone I am sorry . Enjoy the day . We are getting snow this afternoon .

Yikes--a new septic system is likely to be in the $40,000-$50,000 range. But it might be hard to find a buyer if we don't get a new one. Our house was built in 1945 and the system is still functioning just fine, but you know a home inspector is going to warn a buyer that a system is old at 20-25 years. So we have to figure out this week what we want to do, as it takes some time to get an engineer to design a system, get township approval, have the system put in, etc. Trying to figure out if doing the first would pay off in a higher selling price, or at least a quicker sale.

Dang, Bama, I should have read your post earlier about the protein you get at Walmart. dad was asking about whey protein so I ordered him some because I didn't know what he could get locally, but he does have a Walmart nearby. He is trying to build some muscle as he's kind of wasting away. He's been having some health issues (vertigo most bothersome at the moment) and I don't think he is eating very well.

Good luck with your weight loss program. I had to laugh at your, "I have lost a few months and giving myself until April to lose 20 doctors order . Will be much better for knee he says . and so I just ordered Girl Scouts cookies from Gdaughter !!!!!!!!!" Isn't that just life?!

I think portion control works for a lot of people, the Weight Watchers sort of moderation approach. I don't think it works for everyone. I feel deprived if I start weighing and measuring and counting calories, so it doesn't work well for me. I do better with eating lots of vegetables and staying full enough that I don't have all that much room for sweet treats or the carb-heavy stuff I love. Although I do eat treats daily, I make healthier choices than I used to.

I had yearly check-up today. doctor says everything looks good. She said even if cholesterol comes back high, I don't need to worry about it: HDL is very high and I don't have any risk factors other than being post-menopausal. So that was good as I have no interest in taking a statin. I was hoping she could do the EKG I need as part of the pre-op, but turns out I have to go to the hospital to get it done, so maybe I'll tackle that tomorrow.

Have a great night, everyone!

Hi All,
Let's see... Saturday DH got me out for a walk. I was complaining I was tired all the time. I wasn't sure if it was lack of good exercise or menopause. So for a walk we went. Saturday night they had a singer guitar player outside by a fire downtown so we went out to listen. Sunday we spent the afternoon chipping the ice off the driveway as it was above the freezing mark. We got a good portion of the driveway clean. :D Yesterday I got out for 30 minute walk at lunch time. That brings me to today which has me walking to work and back home again. :thumb: I still have yet to do any weight work.

Becky of course we can support each other. I would love that! :D
Mo Yikes on that price! :wowzer: Not sure if I would spring for it or not.
Bama good luck on the weight loss.
Ha ha Sue I needed some pants as one pair won't be fit to wear to work soon.
Maybe the change of scenery in Feb will perk you up YAH.
Later all!

Hi All and Happy Wednesday!!
Well we have a bitter wind chill out there so I elected to NOT go for a walk at lunch time. But I have to honour commitment to myself to do something so I pulled out a 10 minute standing abs video from a while back. I am betting abs will be feeling it. I will add to that 30 squats before the end of lunch  and then see if I can't add something later.
Have a great day friends.

LOL Mo, about the months I have lost . Sometimes the fingers don't won't to type what the brain is telling it to . Anyway I loss 6 pounds in January . If I continue i will meet goal by next Drs appointment.

Been exercising everyday so that helps plus I have the two shakes a day . Those protein shakes by Premier are cheaper at Sams, there they come in a 12 count case and at Walmart only 4.

Nothing new here I did manage one day at the gym and of course I picked the day she did walking lunges and of course knees are paying for it . That will be the last time i do them . I noticed that a couple of other people didn't do them so next class I will just walk or something .. As soon as the rush is over (you know the January flow to rid yourself of the Christmas goodies) is over I am going to make an appointment to get started back on the Machines. It's been a while since I have used them and a refresher course will be good, I think

Sue so sorry you are not sleeping . Am getting your emails but still trying to figure out how to send mail on this new system but i plan on switching over to Gmail address. Will let you know when that happens .

Mo that is a lot of money to have to put into your house , but if you have to , I guess you must . We are again looking , just looking for another house . There are a few things with this one that we don't like. Good luck on what ever you have to do .

Yah , i see you are getting a Meijers near you from Facebook . I love that store. and they have such good deals at times.

Chirs good job on the walks . The instructor had us do some body wt exercises Thursday and arms are a little sore.

Becky You and Chris can be workout buddies . It's always good to have a buddy . i workout everyday . Sometimes I take a day off but not to often I am doing a challenge for this Month . At least walking 1 mile a day . I wear a fitbit also so I always try and at least get 10000 steps . Good for the Heart .

Gotta get off , need to get moving .

Later .

Just skipping in to say HI and glad you are all doing so good with exercise and all:) I'm still home. I wouldn't mind it so much if I had a normal house but this tiny camp is not normal and gets to me now without kids too:( I wish I could move as 5 yrs. in here was suppose to be all but we've been in here for over 40+ yrs. now and more stuff also:( But, word don't go far. Oh, and Feb will be the same, I think I remember someone saying something? Its still winter as ever here and not for just 6 weeks I'm sure:( Goes on a lot longer then that. Bama, yes I guess Meiyers is going in Marq. but I Never get there ever now. I'd love to go browse and all but the stores are far away with old vehicle so it just doesn't happen. I Had to get to work but now I don't Have to I guess. I did get out for TG and Xmas though:) I do have a cat to talk to also:)
Do you get your septic cleaned always Mo? that should be good enough if no troubles? We had a very old one here and the willow tree roots started blocking it so we did get a new septic but didn't cost too much then. Dh traded a guy to put it all in and he worked on his old diesel engine;) Just had to buy the stuff but not too high then either:) I hope you had heat in your MN. house or the water turned off then?
I see on web cams up north it is Really snowing a lot at MTU where sis lives:) But DB and SIL picked her up to go visiting anyway in Calumet which is a big snow town too:) I guess tomorrow we're suppose to get some of that and nice and cold temps we have been having like 1 degree's and -17 wind chill so today it is 4 degree's and -4 so a bit better but no better temps coming up:( I imagine some day we will get over freezing:)
Sue, glad you got some sleep and good shopping trip anyway:) Dh has been shopping mostly for whatever he wants to get. Guess one of these days I will have to go out and get more whenever its really quiet in the stores. Can't stand crowds anymore I guess. Hello to Becka and Chris also and glad your feeling better too:) Bama, I've heard if in a class, don't do what you know you shouldn't do as in lunges. Just walk in place, no use making your knees worse for nothing. I would never do good in that as not much I can do anymore:) I'm lucky to get the 2 mile walk in 3 times a week:) So take care all and watch the ice:) C U :chilly: :coffee:
