WEll its 1 degree and -17 wind chill again:( Young guy got killed about a mile and a half from here on highway. Guess argument with driver, and got out and ran across the snowy road and other car plowed right on him:( Dum move I guess. Some snow on and off here but more in marq. and up north for sure as far as the snow stuff. Just very cold here. Talk about cabin fever, I sure have it and will have it longer I'm sure in this camp. Wishing you all a good time out and going work even etc. Can't wait until a bit warmer. take care on the ice stuff. Hi to all!! :chilly: :coffee:

Oh, how sad, YAH. I wonder if alcohol was involved? So sorry about your cabin fever ~ hope you can get out again soon!

I have a pressure cooker, Bama, but a) like your mom, I'm wary of explosions, and b) it's aluminum, so I think it's going out in the next VVA pick-up. The instant pot will be on wish list; I'll be keeping an eye open for a good deal on one. Have fun experimenting with your air fryer, and your Google Mini! I was at book club last night, and during the meeting Alexa piped up about something: it was a little freaky! :D Kudos on the 4 miles!

Yay on getting your water and walks in, Chris! Hope you had a safe walk to and from work, and are enjoying your weekend.

Boss, I was thinking of taking the tree down the other day, but saw your post and so left it up till today. I don't think there are any bauble- stoners around here, but no sense taking a chance! :)

I hope your DS makes some new friends in GB, YAH, and can get out and do the things he likes to do.

Have you ever joined a Meet-up Group, Bekah? A friend of mine joined a book club through Meet-up several years ago, but she's the only one I know who's actually used it.

I've got an electric stove and oil heat here, too, YAH. Using the space heater really ups the electric bill--it's normally $60-85, but the bill that came yesterday was $175. I'd love a gas stove, but the Buhl house is electric, too. Gas furnace though, I think, so I wonder if it would be expensive to switch the stove. Might have to look into that, especially since aunt's stove is just tiny. It has 4 burners but is only about 2/3 the width of a normal stove.

Good luck with your workout plans and food goals, Sue! Mmmm, I love a good calzone! Do you use your pizza crust recipe for those?

Wishing everyone sweet dreams and a peaceful Sunday~

Mo are you moving to Northern MN soon? I thought you were going to move closer to your kids? I was just wondering i was kind of confused on that.

I've never tried a meet up and i was going to do a spanish one where they get together and practice later this month. But i feel i'm not ready for that. i don't have confidence in speaking ability. When i hear spanish around me i catch some words but they speak to fast and of course some words i don't know. we haven't started on the book yet. We are still working on the draft. it's close though. we don't want to start though until we are sure about how it sounds and what we want. mom is writing it. I just give her thoughts and ideas. :) We are excited to start though. it's funny how many people have ideas for children's books!

We were going to do a reading at a local bookstore but mom doesn't want too. i don't blame her i wouldn't want to either. :)

HI, and wow a high of 27 today but with a very strong wind so probably don't feel like it but I don't know, haven't been out. sounds a bit like that all week until the weekend of highs of 5 degree's:(( At least we don't get the snow that west and east of us get, not yet anyway:) Got enough though.
Mo, yes son in GB has one of those Small gas stoves now as Tiny partitioned kitchen:) I figure he must have gas heat also though. Like in town where they have all natural gas stuff too. Nothing like that out here but we have our own septic and water although I wouldn't mind Good water. Has it been cold where your kids are now? any snow? Nope, don't need no mini anything here either:)
Bekah, saw the book at Amazon as Sue showed it and it looks very nice and nice colored pic's also:) I'm not sure if the lady who did it in other book had colored ones, just saw the pencil ones. I don't use Amazon for anything though yet. Sounds like the 2nd book is doing good or getting done also:) Hope your doing good out there?:)
Sue, sorry about the not too much sleep nights and good luck on your shopping Wed.? or? I still haven't got out there at all:( Yep, Elvis will soon be as old as mom was when she passed away. Too bad he couldn't live longer:( I see quite a few are in their 90's now. Blow some more warm air this way hey?:)
Bama, I did make the saurkrout and polish sausage stuff I thought I saw you liked on FB:) But it didn't get the taste so good in the krout as I like pork etc. in it:) But thats all what I happened to have here so..... Hope you had a good night out with your friends to eat etc.:)
Chris, hope its nice to walk and all for you. Yes, I forget the snow does get panked down with snowshoes or up here groomers go on them. Be nice to be right by a trail as I might try it so if I fall, lots of snow to fall on:)
sis up north sure had enough snow and probably will again but she seems to get out anyway. She has to have small surgery, or so I hope, on her hand this week so she will have to do stuff with her left hand and she is a righty:) Hopefully it will help her number fingers etc. She's lucky to get to massages, and all that stuff too:) I guess her goldenoodle gets her out. She had to have snow off her roof and closed up all her patio doors so had to be shoveled off there also or no way for dog to go out in back. DB and SIL got back from their trip out west on Sat. so he helps her a lot too. take care everyone and have a good week!! :chilly: :coffee:

Hi, all~

Good luck with your first workout back, Sue, and getting your list all done. :) Happy birthday to Elvis!

Bekah, the plan is to go to MN after we sell here, and then see where we want to go after that. Or maybe we'll stay there and just go visit the kids. If I had grandkids, I would definitely want to be in babysitting range, but so far there's no hint of babies from either married DD or unmarried DS. And DH says he's done working, and it would be cheap to live up there. Anyway, I am hoping to be ready to list this house by the end of the month, but that's going to take some doing!

I'd probably be hesitant to do a reading, too. I'd be afraid no one would show up, or that I'd read so fast I'd sound like a crazy person. (I tend to talk fast when I get excited. )

Dang, YAH, hope you can get out soon. As happy as I am staying home, even I need to get out of the house after a week or so. :wowzer: :chilly:

I just talked to DD. She was picking up Chinese take out last week, and they were running slow, so she was watching the news while she waited. There was a segment on the overcrowding at the Atlanta animal shelter--apparently they are being overrun by dogs. You know what's coming, right? I have a new granddog--a little (only about 34 pounds) 2 yr old brindle pit mix that DD named Ruby. DD said when they first brought Ruby home, she was barking and growling at Banjo, so poor DD went to bed crying after putting Ruby in the crate, wondering if she made a mistake. But over the next few days Ruby settled down and now the dogs get along fine, and Ruby is good with the cats, too. DD says she is house-trained but they will have to work on leash-walking, and also keeping her off the counters. DD was making soup while we were talking, and Ruby stole a parsnip off the cutting board when DD turned her head. :funny: The shelter didn't give her much information other than Ruby had been adopted out in July and then picked up as a stray in Sept. and has been at the shelter since.

I got car back on Friday--the airbag inflator part was finally available. As much as I liked the Rogue, it's nice to have own little car back. I was always worried about someone denting or scratching the Rogue in a parking lot.

And I gave notice last week--I'm staying on through the end of the month and then I'm done. DH has been annoyed about speed of progress on the house projects, but it's hard to get things done when I'm at the Y every day except Sat. and Sun. And I was already stressing about finding coverage for shifts when I'm out after the eye surgery, so now I won't have to worry about that. boss said she would put me as inactive rather than totally quitting, in case I want to go back in a few months. Which I guess is a possibility if the house takes longer to sell than I'd hope.

Have a great weekend, everyone~

Hi ladies,

As you will see from email, been a busy week and more ahead LOL

Chris, glad you got to take Tuesday off too. MMM on your veggie plate.... BTW I would be happy to have those 10 pounds. Unfortunately with losing 1.5 inches and the lower weight a friend said I am where I should be. I see you and DH had a nice walk in the woods. The running down hills does sound like fun.

Chris, I like your plan as you know we have snacks and stuff and with it all in moderation do alright. Thanks on the goals and workouts Chris.

I am with you YAH, not the snow, that can be shoveled but the minus temps and then wind chill factor in upstate NY that really killed you. Even NYC and Long Island were bad but nothing like upstate NY.

I am with you on the gas stoves, YAH, miss them as we have an electric one here. I personally think gas cooks things better but JMHO.

As I said before not a fan of putting drops in eyes....in fact anything to do with eyes freaks me out.

Wish your son could find someone too that has the same interests that he does. We have groups here in our city that do hiking, biking etc and you might want to tell him to check those out on line in your area. Or call one of the local community centers and they might know of a group or association that can help him.

Thanks on the plans and tummy isn't what it used to be anymore, YAH, hence less food and less weight. If I try to eat too much.....just bothers stomach and chest with gas....not fun.

Yes I am sure the cleaning does burn calories, and I did get to relax and that was nice too.

Glad the kids picked up the treadmill on the way back to Minnesota. LOL about Henry using the treadmill.

Oh Bekah, the second book sounds like a good one too. I see great minds think alike on the groups LOL

YAH she sounds like a very talented lady. Oh I see your son's schedule puts the kibosh on some of the group stuff.

LOL about the 5th for the Christmas tree....I took mine down on Friday the 5th so I guess I am alright, Bossman.

Wow Chris, awesome on the 3 walks last Thursday and the time frames were great too. I do that too sometimes, Chris, poor the water but don't it all GRRRR and other days I do great....so I try to pay more attention to it.

LOL on the bladder as yes when I drank more of it too, I was also making pit stops it seemed like every hour on the hour....LOL

I see an early wake up on Friday, Chris. BRRR on the winter storm yesterday and continuing into this a.m. Been there done that and hated having to walk into the wind to go into the UofR Med center. Mind you we also had to walk anywhere from a mile to mile and a half (depending on where we got to park) to get to the Med center. I DON'T MISS THAT!

Well clearing off the snow off the driveway twice gave you a workout that is for sure, Chris. I see walks to work and home again too. A great start to the New Year....Chris.....CONGRATS....

Bama, hope you get to use your air fryer soon. I will have to go check them out. However, with our fare not something we'd need. Same goes for instant pot too will have to go look and see on that too.

Now a pressure cooker I remember as both mom, grandma and aunts had them years back. I have heard of Alexa but not on a kindle but then what do I know LOL Not a clue on Google home mini.....OK you just answered question on the home mini another one of those things you talk and it does.

Sorry not cup of tea but to each his own I say.

Don't blame you on working out at home with the cold temps.

I am sure you had a fun time at the sports bar with your friends, Friday night.

Yikes YAH the 1 degree and =17 wind chill brings back memories....I don't like to think about LOL Very sorry again to hear about that poor young man. So scary today. Yeah the winter months in your area and upstate NY and so many other areas back east are just NOT NICE this time of year. Used to huddle down and read, play games, I'd bake and stay warm in the kitchen with the stove etc.

Have to say don't miss and this is why we moved to California as got tired of it....especially snow into April and our last year May 1st...(not a lot PTL but it still freaking snowed) LOL

Yes cabin fever.....HUGS. Hoping it clears enough for you to get out and about.

We have gas heat Molasses and much cheaper than the electric as the rates are up again. Though gas is going up too. Can't win. Yeah we miss our gas stove as the one here is electric. I think you can cook better on a gas stove. JMHO.

Yes we do make our own crust for the calzones and the regular pizza crust recipe is used. I know some people you the ones you can buy but making our own pizza's and all we have it down to a science and since Chuck used to work in a pizza place many years back (before we met) he makes a great one. However, I have made them too and mine came out great also, Chuck said.

Bekah, sorry on the Spanish meet up. I wish you the best with the second book as you know. Too bad I didn't live closer, as I would have no issues with doing the reading. Been there done that with kids and many times with moms and dads there too, way too many times. In addition to having to do thesis and having a group questioning everything you did. Grad school plus being in a band helped shyness immensely LOL

OMG YAH I nearly spit out ice tea reading "Hi and wow a high of 27 today".....I can remember us saying those words. HUGS on the strong winds....and yes means that it's probably more like minus 5 or something like that. I see a high of 5 degrees for the weekend. Glad you aren't getting snow too.

I see your son has all gas too.

Thanks on the sleeps but it is what it is...old age ain't it grand LOL

I spoke to Margaret today and since we did our Winco list today it was prophetic that while Chuck got the mail, I knocked on Margaret's door and asked her and she said she was going to come over later to tell us she's going on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Works for me....as I will be able to get dusting done before I go shopping.

Yes he would have been 83 this year.....same age as mom (if she's still around....her b-day isn't till July 27 but same year as Elvis.

You don't want the damp, cool air we are having and rain coming down like cats and dogs....stopped now but did it all night and on and off this a.m.

Wishing your sister the best on the surgery. Oh I would be in trouble as I am a righty and left hand is just another part of body to me.....I have a hard time using it for anything LOL

Glad she gets out and about for massages....(I had one in life and loved it...it was a birthday gift from boss in Lousy ). Oh yes that gorgeous goldenoodle she has.....so cute. Glad your DB helps her a lot.

Molasses, thanks on the workout....it went well....10 reps and did 3 sets of all the moves. Felt good I missed not working out. Yes I couldn't get the picture up of the memorial like I had done before so had to settle for another one I had.

Molasses, I hope it all works out with the house and the listing and you can make a move soon..sounds like hubby is raring and ready to go. Tell him hey "need some help here if you want to leave sooner than later" LOL

So they both have "furbabies" I thought so but memory ain't what it used to be....I thought your DD did anyway and also the kids did too but as I said memory......LOL

Oh I talk fast too when I get excited Molasses.....but then I talk fast period....east coast upbringing....when we moved down south it took a very very long while to understand some of what they said and words they used as opposed to the east coast. Like SODA (pronounced SODDAR by us New Yorkers/Long Islanders' LOL) Well took over a half hour to get someone to understand what we wanted till a guy who didn't work there said to the guy "she's from the New York area....she wants a POP'....I thanked him profusely for his help.

I see you got to chit chat with your DD and mmmm Chinese food...I so miss it. Yup as soon as I read "overrun by dogs" I knew that you had a new "grand puppy/dog". Oh how cute and I love her name "Ruby". Oh so glad that Ruby is getting along with Banjo and the cats too. I see she is like Chuck as he had the 7 cats and Mr. Bo Jangles. I got perfect family when I moved in with him.

I see work is needed with leash walking and off the counter tops. Wishing her the best....

I see you got your car back and so glad the part was available.

Wishing you the best with the eye surgery, Molasses. Plus I see you gave notice glad she put you on inactive just in case...but hoping the house sells quick. I am assuming hubby is still working and so you have to finish up all the house projects????

I hope it all works out for you, the projects, then the house selling and the place in Minnesota also.

Well I am all caught up and off to do a mail check and then get some off line stuff done.

Wont' be around tomorrow with dusting and then shopping and all that fun stuff. However there will be a grocery report...."how exciting" LOL

Well it's pouring again........

Have a good night everyone,

Sue

Thanks Yah on the book. Things are good out here. Weather has warmed up. snow on wed.

Yah i think your son should keep trying to find people. even call around and tell them his schedule. There might be others that are on a different time schedule than the normal 8 to 5.

we took the tree down the day of xmas. mom is very how do i say this. When she has stuff to do she can't stop till it's done. I needed to print something out at the library for her. She doesn't need it till early april. I hadn't gone to the library yet because i don't go too often and just hadn't done it but when i was in the area and had time i would stop in. Every single day i heard get to the library i need that paper. So anyways she couldn't take the tree being up after xmas. :funny:

I'm a fast talker too. I still think that was neat you were in a band Sue. I'm sure you would have no problem reading the book. The thing is the book is short it would probably take 5 minutes. :funny: The owner of the bookstore wanted a book reading before he would sell it. i might call him and ask if he would just sell the book anyways.

Super Bowl is coming to town and will be in minneapolis i think on feb 2 or 1st something like that. I will probably be working that day.

elvis's birthday. did you ever go to graceland sue? I might have asked you before but i forgot if i did.

Mo good luck on the house improvements and the eye surgery. :sunshine:

Hope the grocery shopping goes okay Sue tomorrow. :)

One of songs i'm learning on the piano is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_0GdB4oD6s. Comptine d'un autre été I like it and it isn't too hard to play except left hand is kind of extended a lot. The only thing i don't like it is it's kind of a sad piece.

Have a great week!

Good Morning all, I am finally caught up on all the messages but not going to take the time to reply . Sounds like all are doing well and Mo you are getting ready to put your house on the Market , Sue is back to her workouts , Chris is walking to work and getting some exercise in , Yah is definitely cold in UP and Becka is helping her Mom write a children's book . Nice for sure .

i just kinda summarized it as mind isn't what it use to be .

Sue is going to do her shopping today and Mo you gave your notice at the Y.

I am waiting for 845 to come as I am going to the Y this morning . Haven't been since 12/5 due to the bad driving conditions . I said when i retired i was not going to drive in the bad weather. That is one of the perks of being retired. Go where you want when you want. HEHEHE

I still haven't gotten air fryer out and I see that our Krogers has a instant pot for 59$ but it is a 3 quart so wondering if that would be big enough . Probably since there are only two of us.

I also haven't found car keys . I am thinking that I accidentally put them in with the recyclables or that a Squirrel came in the garage and got them . I am always finds walnuts from them . Usually I let the keys in the car put once in a while I have laid them on a file cabinet . Well I need to get moving . Later .

Hi All,
I have only gotten one litre of water in me the last three days. Time to work harder on that!! I walked to work and home again on Monday but I brought the car today. I did get 30 minute walk at lunch today though. :thumb: We have a beautiful day out there and fairly mild. Feels like spring after that arctic freeze we were in for so long.
Thanks for the summary Bama!
Have a great day all!! :sunshine:

were going to do the book reading. she said it's not really a reading but they more than anything just ask questions. I am doing it too. :funny: definitely stepping outside comfort zone. :funny: But i really did a lot of the work. I found the illustrator and where to publish it and all that and also contributed to how the pics look. and then the formatting as well. so they might want to ask me questions too. I will make a handout for people too. We are on the calendar but it's not till spring. :thumb:

Hi All and Happy Wednesday to you!!
Today I have all me walking in already (20 minutes to work, 30 minutes at lunch , 30 minutes to get the car). I had to leave work early and get the car to pick up son who wasn't feeling well. Just tired I am sure. I have one litre of water in me now to work on the second of the day. For the rest of the month I am going to work on pushups. I am going to see how many full push ups I can do today and then work on the upper body strength to be able to do more than that by the end of the month. I will keep you posted.

Becky that is really exciting!! Good luck and have fun with it too!

That is exciting, Bekah! I hope you both have fun with it!

:thumb: on the water intake, Chris, and the walking. Hope your DS feels better tomorrow. Good luck with your push-ups. I got up to 10 once with a challenge, but then I quit doing them. I was just talking to a training client on Monday about them, so I came home and tried, and I'm back to "elbow bends" rather than push-ups.

We are sharing your weather--it's warmed up a bit, enough to make mud with the melting snow. I think it's going to get colder again next week, so have to enjoy this while it lasts.

Hope you found your keys, Bama. I agree with you on the driving--if you don't absolutely have to be somewhere, no sense going out in bad weather.

Feb. 4 is the Super Bowl, Bekah. Would be exciting if the Vikings were in it this year. :D That's a pretty song! Glad you are still playing. :sunshine:

We are all animal people, Sue. DS has a dog and a cat, and so does his girlfriend, so 4 furry little bodies in their house. DD and SIL have three cats and now 2 dogs. I will try to send you a picture of Ruby. DD says it's hard to get a good shot because Ruby isn't much for holding still.

There's a woman in book club from Long Guy-land. So I hear her voice when I read your posts. :D She adds R's to the end of words that end in vowels, too. Rita becomes Reader in Long Guy-land-ese!

Yes, DH is still working. There's no health insurance if he quits, so that's why the house projects are falling on me!

Speaking of which, I'd better get moving here. Sweet dreams, everyone!

I decided to make bookmarks for the kids for the book reading. I'm going to put the girl character on the book mark with the title, etc. and maybe a punch whole and string and laminate it and there you go instead of a handout.

I did 60 push ups in 2 minutes in the military. and they are picky on counting pushups so i probably did more. :)

I agree on the bad weather. I actually schedule myself for work in the winter based on the weather report so i don't drive in bad weather.

That would be awesome if the vikings made it to the super bowl. But we don't have the best track record in the playoffs. and i think it's been since the 70's or maybe even 60's that the vikings made it into the superbowl. i could be wrong on that but i think that's correct.

mo, that song actually sounds beautiful with a violin.

Have a nice night. :)

HI all:) I see your all doing ok and funny weather all over. It got up to 35 degrees today :wowzer: But not sunny for long, clouded over and I guess may rain tonight. Then cooling off so might be drizzle, sleet and then the snow on Thurs. later:( We don't like rain at all in winter up here. I hear the back roads are all icy now even and hills gets bad as the snow didn't melt off them yet and will not now. Then nice and Cold on weekend. I guess its ok that I didn't go to son's this week as he called in work today and probably tomorrow as he has the sweats and chills all night as he was a bit like that the other night but didn't think he was sick really, so the facility is closed to visitors right now even, so he might as well stay home instead of taking anymore chances. As maintenance, you have to go on all floors etc. and do stuff in the residents rooms also:( But he is good at washing his hands a lot:) So anyway, Dh got pills yesterday so I'm still inside and not going out for a while I guess.
Didn't know your plans were for MN. Mo? I guess maybe cheaper or if wood fire also? Not too cheap by the capital but you have a house there so that helps;) Good that your good at remodeling and doing all that stuff though. I wish I could but over the hill for doing it even now;( Course we don't get much income anyway so just try saving what we can so this camp will have to do for now. Just wish it was more of a normal house. Wow, your kids sure do have a lot of fur kids:) I'd love more but no room. Good luck on selling your house also:)
Bekah, well that sounds pretty good then for reading maybe and questions? What a great idea for book markers as everyone needs them:) They would keep them longer then handouts I think:) Lovely piano piece also. I was listening while cooking and forgot to stop it and it went to Simon and Garfunkel, singing the Sounds of Silence:)) One of favorites so it just came up next:) take care.
Chris, your doing very good but I know I have to have water lined up to remember. We have to buy the bottles for it here. Course I drink a lot of coffee too, but weak stuff. Hope your kid is ok? I think they have it so warm for residents in the facility so germs sure stick around but then most of them are colder as they get older. So the cold outside is better really then having it too warm out there also i guess.
Bama and Sue, hope you are doing ok and did read your good shopping day Sue and sounds like you have rain there, a lot. I read of mudslides now in CA.
sis drove to mom's old farm today for her dog to run around:) A long way to go but I guess the roads were good. Hoping the icy conditions wait until she's done with her surgery on hand tomorrow morning as its way across the high land through lots of snow up north to get there. It sure is nice that she bought a house close to town at least to get everything else and visit her Dh also. I'd love to live up there as I know so many more people there to visit etc. sis only knows a few since she was away for 50 yrs. but its nice since DB is up there and our church so she's getting to feel like home now. Well, better go and get supper since I cooked a little today:) I don't always. take care all! :coffee:
