Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Afternoon ladies,
Chris, I am very sorry I forgot to add Thanksgiving wishes to you....hanging head in shame...
Thanks Molasses, yes I hope this place finds the same. They have been a bit of a PITA to deal with, but finally got it all done today. As I said in weekly email, Chuck said you haven't had to deal with a new place in a long time. He's right I am out of the "groove" LOL
Yeah once Alexis gets the records sent over then I will call and I called billing today and the gal said it should all be covered.
Thanks so much Molasses, and I will get back to you on that gaining plan the first of the year as now with the good cleaning I want to do and closets etc too (which by the way is NOT going well. Only got one drawer done, part of the second with the new guy supposed to show up for the fridge and filter and other stuff Chuck and I had to do on a daily basis. So I need to get in a groove and start moving.
Wow sorry on the elimination diet causing that migraine but glad you found out fast. Good idea on only one thing a month instead.
I am blowing our cooler air your way Molasses, as we have been in the 70s and low 80s here. Today not good though as it got windy and we got even cooler but we also got the "smoky air" too blowing in so closed up the windows and put our fan part on only in our a/c and heat system we have here. Helped and so it's off now.
Bekah so good to see you and you are so right each year body talks to me more LOL Yeah was glad primary doctor thought so (oh BTW it's she not a he and I just adore her). Oh definitely watch the Buddy Holly movie....excellent....been a lot of years now for me.....but enjoyed it very very much.
Don't know what grammarly is Bekah? Enlighten me LOL
Oh yikes I would be gone with annoying windows and emoticons too.
Great walks, Chris and so glad you had a nice weekend with the family fun time, planting your Dad's garlic and with your nephew too washing the cupboards.....and the food part is the best LOL
LOL Chris on listening to our bodies.....I am just spoiled as the 'aches and pains' are getting more each year boo hiss LOL See what you have to look forward to LOL
Since I have seen a snap shot of you....a while back, yes I know but I think like me....we think we look so much worse than we really do....that is what Chuck tells me and I am sure your hubby would agree.
But then it's better we keep up with our routines and trying.
Well I am off to get some off line stuff done. Wishing you all a great evening.
Sue

Sue, I like women doctors too. I will watch the buddy holly movie. We turned our furnace on today. It was 60 in the house so we thought it time.
Grammarly is a website you can sign up for free with. They check your grammar and you can put papers into it to check it as well. I"m not great at grammar so i decided too. What i am finding is that the site is also connected to a lot of other sites. I had to turn it off on another site too.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Add me to the "fan of women doctors" list. Not that there aren't good, compassionate doctors who listen, (and hurried, arrogant female doctors who don't), but I generally try to find a female and have had great luck with all except one female dermatologist.
Is it La Bamba that you guys are talking about? That's the only Buddy Holly movie I've seen.
Yay on your visit being covered, Sue. Hope you can get in soon and be done with it! Thanks on the cooler air and headache. The fire situation is so sad. I'm sorry you are getting smoke from it.
DH is off tonight, and calling me for some tech service so I'll catch back up tomorrow~
Sweet dreams, all!

Morning ladies and yes it's 4:07 a.m. here and it's second night of being up this late.....ah the life of "old people" LOL
Molasses, I see you too, are a fan of the women doctor. I did have a cardiologist but primary is handling BP now and when I asked her if I had to continue she said no....so he was the end of doctors. Of course, this new appointment for mouth is with a "Chris" but I don't know if or female....I am guessing from what primary said and her assistant. So we shall see.
AS for the movie Molasses, here's the link to the one I saw:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077280
Also saw 1987 movie La Bamba too....
Well off to try to get a couple hours of sleep like I did last night....wish me luck
Sue

Good Morning all, Well a lot of things of been going on here . Health issues. I hurt knee somehow . I actually think I hurt it in the Silver Sneakers class way back in August . We go to two different Y's one is really close for me and the one lady but a little distance for the other . So we alternate by going to ours and then to hers the next week . Hers is about 30 minutes away but I like the class much better and the instructor. Well back to knee , The class at Y has us do Walking lunges and that is how I think I hurt knee. Woke up with terrible pain and could barely walk for a month and finally I went to the Doctor , had xrays etc and found that I have Arthritis in the patella(knee cap) and the lunges just irritated it . Go to Primary this coming Firday to see what he suggests. Doing Pilate type exercises for legs/knee and using Aspercream a few times a days and seems to be helping .
Have been spending some time with Son and Daughter a little . They live such busy life's that I don't see them a lot . Keeping up as much as I can with exercise . Still getting in at least one mile a day of walking. Weight is not good . It was going down for a while and then we went on an Ice Cream spree and it is back up. Easier to put on then to take off
Got a few projects to do today . i made a nice fall wreath for front door and goose has a pumpkin outfit on so am ready for fall.

You might want to do some research on chondroitin and MSM as potential mediators for your patella problem, providing of course they would not be contraindicated in relation to any medication you may have been taking or are due to start taking.
You may also find taking something like Krill Oil might be useful in targeting any inflammation, as I believe it has similar properties to fish oil, but it avoids the issues with fishy burps.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Happy Monday All,
Well exercise wise I am doing the bare minimum.
weight is up,
but that is all I find I can do right now. I will keep plugging away at it and if by some miracle I get the ambition to do more you will all be in the know.
Saturday I went to morning lesson, then I turned down the TV in the afternoon to dig in the dirt and plant garlic.
SO that is now done, then I mowed over the beautiful red leaves that had fallen.
Yesterday I stayed in PJ's all day and worked with DH and son to clean up the house. I moved some furniture around and we got our oldest set up better so he isn't hogging our extra room (used to be the kids play room). I have company coming the first week in November for a shopping trip so it needs to look better than this. Not that company will mind it is just me.
Interesting on the krill oil Boss Man. Thanks!
Sorry about the knee Bama. No lunges for you, and as it turns cold it will be easier to say no to the ice cream.
Oh Sue, hugs and prayers for some better sleep!
primary is a female and I have to push the envelope with her to do anything. When I had kids OBGYN was a and was fabulous. Mostly I plan to avoid doctors as much as possible.
Have a great day All!!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Morning , Happy Monday all,
Thanks Bossman for the info. I will sure check into it . Not wanting any surgery . Right now I am not taking anything for the knee and it is better but not completely well . I see Doctor this week . I think the exercises I am doing is helping a lot but I think this is something I am going to have to live with (Pilate style with a band ) . No Lunges for sure. I seem to not have any pain with squats but will not do as many as I use to.
It turned cold here today and time to get the sweat shirts out. The sun is out but still cold.
Chris just do what you can . weight is up also . Due to the Ice Creme Spree we went on !!! No more ice cream at house.
Nothing else going on .
Enjoy the day .

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Well you would need to find an alternative to the lunges to make sure that you are getting a relative balance of quad and hamstring work or you could become what is known as quad dominant, because if you were promoting sustenance or improvement of quad muscle but incurring hamstring atrophy, then eventually you would create an imbalance between the two and depending on the level of difference between both muscle groups, you could risk having movement issues.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
I haven't seen that Buddy Holly movie, Sue, thanks.
Sorry about your knee, Bama, and hope it heals quickly. Front lunges can be hard on the knees, and walking lunges even more so.
Glad you are getting some time in with your son, daughter, and grandkids. Nice to have your sewing and crafts to keep you busy!
Ginger and turmeric are good for inflammation also.
If you feel like you are missing hamstring work, Bama, you can do things like hip bridges (feet on the floor, or on a chair or exercise ball) and good mornings and deadlifts.
Sounds like you have been busy with all sorts of things, Chris, and have some fun stuff to look forward to besides.
Great job on the walks!
We are (finally!) enjoying some glorious fall weather, too. It was 38 when I got up this morning, but the sun is out and it's heading up around 70.
The electrician came Monday and our power is all back on now, so that's nice. Back in the 20th century anyway!
I signed up for a Weight Management Specialist course through ACE yesterday, but haven't started on it yet. (I'd like to get some of house projects wrapped up first.) boss at the Y wanted some of us to take the course so she could start a small group offering geared toward weight management. Wish she'd offered to pay for the course, but at least it covers CE credits for the next time I have to renew PT and health coach certifications.
Not too much else to remark on. son-in-law's mom was in NJ and had a trailer with her, so she volunteered to take piano down to her son. Then after I had DH rooting around in the outbuildings for something we could use as a ramp to get it out of the house and down the front steps, she sent a text that I didn't really understand about how now she had to the take the cats she'd left with her stepdad so she couldn't take the piano (the cats would be in the van with her, and the piano in the trailer, so it didn't make much sense to me, but . . .), but she'd come back in Dec. for a family wedding, and she'd get it then (which I'm not really expecting to happen). I feel kind of bad for son-in-law because he wants the piano, but I guess we'll figure out something else. She tends to be flaky, so it's not surprising, but disappointing anyway. Oh well, onward and upward!
Enjoy the day, everyone!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi ladies,
Yes it's 3:40 a.m., and I am still awake but hey I slept all of this week...so can't complain.
Just wanted to catch up before I go off line and try to get some zzzzzzz's.
Bekah I see you like women doctors too and so did you like the Buddy Holly movie? We had our heat on a couple of times this week with our morning temps going down to mid 40s. Gotcha on the website.
Molasses, I have had some wonderful doctors over the years. It's just for certain things I prefer a women doctor. For me now all of mine are ladies, pulmonologist, dermatologist, gyno and primary.
Bama, very sorry to hear about the knee and the arthritis in the patella! This is why they are no longer in workouts. I used to do them years back and I was fine. But knees didn't like them so I stopped. I do squats and side stretches and the Pilates and band workouts for legs. Glad the Aspercream is helping. Chuck and I were just talking about buying some.
Glad you are getting to spend some time with your son and daughter too. Good on the exercise and walking. Glad weight is god too. Ooops on the ice cream spree but you deserve it....yeah it goes on so easy but takes so much work to get it off LOL
Hope you did well with your projects and you need to send pics of the fall wreath and goose too!
HUGS on the exercise being less than you want and weight up....this soon too will pass and you will be able to get back to what you were doing.....HUGS
I see you got to your lesson last Saturday and got your garlic planted too. Oh I see you love the leaves too....I always raked ours.....both for Chuck and I when we lived in the house and here too when our backyard gets all the leaves off the trees (ours in the backyard and others close by that blow in).
I see you, DH and son cleaned the house together that's nice and move furniture too, I see. Glad you got your oldest son fixed up. Yeah even if they don't mind we always want it to look nice. LOL
Thanks on the hugs and prayers, Chris, it's another Saturday night up but I slept all of this week, so won't complain.
Oh I had a doctor for years on Long Island....from teen years and into 20s...Dr. Catena and what a hoot, he tells me I should quit smoking while he is puffing away the whole visit......second hand smoke wasn't talked about yet LOL
Yeah I used to avoid them too Chris, however, with the stuff I went through not an option any longer.
Bama, Mari's leg workouts with the band in her Pink workout are wonderful. Same here I can do squats but stop at 25 to 30.
I switched over clothes Bama and now next week we are headed back to the 80s LOL The curse is alive still as Chuck likes to say.
Oh Chris and Bama, we so miss our ice cream. As you both know we loved getting the SaveMart brand and all the flavors. Well I got the variety of flavors, Chuck only a couple....plus he'd steal a taste of the ones I bought and the ones he liked, I'd share with him.
However, our tummy's have rebelled and no more ice cream for us. Was such a sad time and period for us.
Probably why I am down to the weight I am.
Chris I see you got a walk in on Monday and Tuesday and are having some lovely fall weather too. Kudos on those two walks on Wednesday too.
Molasses, hope you enjoy the movie. Thanks for the ginger and turmeric tip too. Glad Fall has arrived Molasses, but I am glad it's not 38 here...our anemic heat couldn't take it. LOL
Glad the electrician got your power back on.
Good luck with the Specialist course, Molasses; and with your house projects too. Sorry about the change by your son-in-law's mom....I agree I don't get it either. Maybe son-in-law at some point can come pick it up himself.
Chris, I see a nice Thursday where you were and warm enough for a T-shirt is good. Plus sounds like an awesome walk too.
Well it's now 4:11 a.m., and after I post this I am off to try again.....wish me luck.
Have a nice Sunday...
Sue
