Bicep and forearm pain

Post by sparrow »

I used to be able to do a pullup but can't do it now because biceps are very painful when I attempt this.
I can however do a chinup with very little to no pain. I can also do a neutral grip with little to no pain.

I don't do either one of these from a dead hang. I just stand at the bar and pull myself up or sometimes give self a quick little jump.

The pain isn't up by shoulder. It's right on the 'bump' of bicep (like when I flex)

Also forearms have been in pain for a long time now.
I've stopped doing any isolation exercises for biceps.

Does anyone experience this type of pain... any suggestions?

Not really, but it could be a trapped nerve.

So what can be done about this. I've never heard the term trapped nerve.

A trapped nerve, usually to knowledge is just that, it may have been moved out of place by a bit of pumped up muscle, or some connective tissue, and can trigger pain responses, so this may be what's happened in your Bicep.

It may also be a possible slight tear, not a Microtear like you'd get with weight training, but a real tear, that might have happend on one head of the Bicep.

As you have two Heads on the Bicep, you may be doing exercises, that don't activate one of the Heads that much, and other exercises that do could be triggering some pain.

I can't think of anything else at present.
