Hi all! Chris, sounds like a good week if you went hiking or camping and fun:)) I wish I could say like older sis, as she went SF and did a Lot of hiking hills and crossed the Golden Gate bridge also as she went with a serious walkers gang I guess:) I know she mentioned 23,000 steps one day. She was a week there and they hiked a lot and then stayed at B&B's along the way until getting back to SF. took ferry and went by Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf for Clam Chowder somewhere, and that nice co. that makes good chocolate too:) I only wish that was me doing all that:( She has had Breast C. and is always walking in MO. also and is 5-6 yrs. older then me! I made her send me pics of places as I said I have to travel with people that go places as I don't travel:)
Sorry about work Chris but I figure the camping did wonders:)
Sue, hope you had a good night also and have a good week and best wishes at your Drs. too:)
I did finally go for a ride with son to the lake Sunday anyway. Tried van but it was dead. I guess sitting there for weeks didn't help:) We've had temps in the 90's which we didn't even have all summer! WAY too hot for me. today is hot but we're going through some thunder and raining a lot so maybe it will change but very humid still. Dh did get some fresh trout and a coho salmon from someone so fresh fish is always yummy:)
Mo, Bama, Becky and all, have a good week also and hope you are all doing well too> take care! :coffee:

Hi, all,

I have been busy working on projects, and dealing with electricians and other frustrations. :? I don't know why it's so hard to get a contractor pinned down around here. After the guy who was talking about either breaking up the floors or else wiring on the outside of the walls (no, thank you), another guy came who said he could run the wire through the ceiling, which sounded good. He said he'd email an estimate, but we still hadn't gotten it today, so I followed up with an email. He then sent an "estimate" but it didn't have a price on it! I emailed him back and eventually he sent one with a price, but by then DH had already called 3 other places. So one is coming first thing tomorrow morning, and one on Wed. Hopefully we can just get someone to actually show up to do the work! It's been a good 3 weeks now that we haven't had power in the other side of the house.

About a month or so ago, I had to take car in to the get the passenger airbag repaired under a recall (those Takata airbags that can send shrapnel flying if they deploy, I believe). Sat. I got a letter saying the driver's side needed to be done also, but parts won't be available till spring. I'm not sure why it would take so long, especially when we are talking about something dangerous. So DH called the dealership that did the last repair and said that as the car is not safe to drive, we want a loaner till the repair can be done. It got a little bit hairy for a few minutes, but I did end up getting a courtesy vehicle (smallish SUV) that is much nicer than car. I'm kind of afraid to drive it! I'm sure that they are going to want it back before long so maybe they'll track down the parts and get car in for the recall service before spring!

It is hot and yukky here again, but tomorrow is only supposed to be in the low 80s, so hopefully this is the last real heat wave for this year. I had made DH take the AC out of the bedroom at the beginning of Sept., but he had to put it back in last week. Oops, sorry, dear!

Enjoy that fresh fish, YAH! Good for your sister--that sounds like a fun trip! I wish you could go along, too. Hope your heat breaks soon, and you have a nice long autumn! Glad you got out with your DS, had a sauna, and are snacking on your apple harvest, and even making pie--yum! Yes, I'd love to have the house sold by the end of the year--just need to find the right family to buy it.

Thanks, Sue--hope you had a great day also! I'll have to check out the Turtles later. :) Hope you can find a suitable stool for a good price. I always use a chair, but I know it's not very safe.

Camping with your girlfriends sounds awesome, Chris! Hugs on the work stress--here's hoping this week is a whole 'nother story!

Hi, Bama and Bekah--hope all is well with you also.

I'd better get moving again here. Sweet dreams, everyone!

Afternoon ladies,

Well our 70s are gone and in the high 80s today and back to 90s tomorrow and through the weekend...boo hiss...no more doors and windows, back to the a/c.

Of course, just in time for me to go to appointment Thursday.....just want to get a good night's sleep...which me luck.

Chris I meant to say in post on 18th of this month; we had a fridge at the Dean's office so Betty and I would bring carrot sticks, celery, etc and nibble on those. Plus put our apples, oranges, etc in there to cool too.

Sorry about not doing much last week YAH. However, I see you got a sauna in and having lots of yummy apples. Oh Eva, I am glad you got a lot of good times in with your mom....can't put a price on that....so whatever it cost it was worth it.

Yeah stores, are bad enough and especially SaveMart but the doctor's offices are even worse...

I sent an article out to share this a.m. on Fall here as some of our areas are looking beautiful already.

The a/c is on as was getting too hot in the house and computer room especially and can't have "hot computers" Chuck's new one gives him his computer's temp and it was up....so on the a/c went (or as Chuck says I call it the "infernal machine" must be put on LOL)

Oh loved to walk at work too at University as had plenty of walking areas. In addition we got a good mile to mile and a half (depending on where we parked) in the morning coming in to work and same in the afternoon leaving....was NOT fun in winter with temps below zero and minus 15 or 20 degrees though.

Chris sorry about the stressful week at work.... heart goes out to you as been there, done that and like yourself don't want to bring it home....though since it was only Chuck, myself and our furbabies they could all tell stress levels so got a bunch of support....

I sure hope the work environs got better this week.

I see you got some practice sessions in and went camping with the gals. I see times were had and you got to do some yoga too. I just know you had a nice walk after lunch on Monday.

Oh YAH your lucky sister on the clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf....when I had it many years back it was to "die for". Oh and the chocolate shop is Ghirardelli's Chocolate.... friend in MS used to send me some for the holidays and it was one of the pieces I broke first tooth on. Such is life. It is freaking delicious.

Glad your sis sent plenty of pics to you too....same here....I re-live the trips I took through pictures and others who send me theirs.

Thanks for the doctor's wishes and yeah I slept this past Saturday, Monday and we shall see tonight...and tomorrow.....if I have to have a bad night I'd rather it be tonight so I get a good night's rest the night before I have to go to the doctor....gonna be a long day form 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. pick up and then who only knows how long to get home....

Sorry about the heat there YAH and well humidity too....they were all going nuts this summer here when we had "humidity" ....mind you the worst day was 75 or in the 80s.....since Long Island had 95% or higher all summer didn't bother me much....but then I also didn't go out a lot either but times I did I was fine. Of course I heard from the workers and gals in the office, aren't you "hot" isn't this humidity a killer and I'd tell them about NYC in August and all summer on Long Island and they'd say OMEGA how did you live in it....I said mother bought the model house because it had central air....and she set it at 65 so father and I went outside to get warm more times than I could count.

Hoping your temps go back to normal for you YAH and as I told you....you have mouth drooling with the fresh trout and Coho salmon and fresh too....

Oh Molasses, I see you have been busy busy with dealing with electrician and more. I hear that from buddy in Illinois and other ladies I know....seems none of these people today have the courtesy and work ethic of those when you and I were growing up. They don't call back...don't show up....don't come on time...it's freaking ridiculous.

heart goes out to you. I sure hope you get someone there that is competent, gives you a good price and does the job well. Know you are in thoughts and prayers.

Wow on the car Molasses....and I know how your hubby did....the "you know what in him" came out and they hopped to it. I am glad....hey Molasses, use the loaner it's your transportation and through no fault of your own.

Hot your hot weather ends and sorry about the a/c....seems like Mother Nature is really showing us all over the country this year.

Thanks on the stool and yeah before I was hooked up to an oxygen cord I used a chair for years to reach stuff. What's not helping now is losing 2 inches of height....I mean I was only 5 '1 and 1/2 to start with so don't have a lot to lose....

I hope you got some more stuff you wanted to get done and Fall comes to your area soon.

Well time for me to take meds, do breathing and stretch out.

A good night to all,

Sue

Hope your ride and dr's visit goes smoothly, Sue, and you are well-rested to boot! I can see why you are looking for a stool, especially if you have things in high cabinets!

Afternoon (or evening) to all,

Well Molasses, 2 out of 3 ain't bad as I had a terrible night and was lucky to get 90 minutes of sleep. I have all about the trip in weekly email, thanks very much though as the trip went well and so did visit....unfortunately for the first time ever, poor doctor was inundated so went more quickly than normal. However, got all stuff answered and referral for mouth. She looked also and said it's most likely benign so I am hoping so.

Yeah I need a 3 tier one now for certain things. Luckily Chuck can reach it but if he's not about....that ain't gonna help me LOL

Wow Chris, I a very busy week and kudos to you on all the moving.....you deserve today off. Good luck with the garden prep and planting garlic. Be sure to Sunday your "me day".

You too, Chris have a nice weekend....

In fact a good weekend for all,

Sue

Hi ladies,

Chris, kudos on all the great walks you are getting in. However, sorry about the garden.

Thanks Molasses, was not happy about 90 minutes worth of sleep but it is what it is. At least appointment went well and I I already heard on the referral. Now I just need to get an appointment set and I will call today to verify insurance is taken there. Paranoid person that I am. LOL Very sorry to hear about the migraine yesterday and work....hope today was a better one for you.

Well I finally got to September Report and what's up for the rest of the year.....

So here goes:

September Report

Had some issues with workouts during the month of September. Plus with having to plan "good cleaning" around and Chuck's appointments and shopping trips and " body rebelling" well it just is a chaotic time sot say the least. So walking and doing some dancing along with the work of cleaning will be workouts till the season starts. Which as most of you know means a break in workouts till January.... old body is done a lot of rebelling this year so I am listening and doing what I can, when I can....all that I can do. As usual will also have RLW of walking for shopping day instead of regular one. So plan for September kind of hit a snag on Thursday, September 14th due to next pain and Friday the 15th got a 20 minute walk in, in the morning but evening wasn't feeling very well again.

Was back on the stick on Monday the 18th with the change in workouts with a 15 minute walk in the morning and dancing in the evening; which continued till the 20th and then a RLW on Thursday morning, the 21st, of vacuuming and backyard and window cleaning.

Did walk on the 22nd in the a.m., but was tuckered out Friday evening. Finished the month with walking and RLW's with cleaning.

So all in all not too bad of a month. However, October, November and December will be lots of RLW's of cleaning filled in with mornings of walking when I can and dancing for the remainder of the year.

Weigh Ins for the Month:

9/3/17 Sunday weigh in 114.5
9/10/17 Sunday weigh in 115.5
9/17/17 Sunday weigh in 114.5
9/24/17 Sunday weigh in 112.5

October workouts through the end of the year will be walking or RLW for MWF and dancing in the evening and T-Th dancing in the evening.

Food goals: Food goals have not changed but remain the same...continue to take vitamin D, and keep up the increase in the fruits and veggies in diet, and try some different type of veggies, which we have been doing well with. Also continue to try out some different recipes, which had we are bound and determined this year to do better with. I will also continue with the getting in chocolate several times a week. PB is no longer an eating option for me. As for desserts we have made a switch and am keeping portion controls as I need to. Our soups mixed with egg noodles are working out great giving up lots of veggies and the sauce is already included; in addition to getting 2 dinners out of a can. Plus tummy likes it too LOL We will continue to have them over other types of noodles, like little farfalle and ditalini pasta too.

We have made up a number of the following ideas for dinners and just adding to our menu. In addition we have a number of ideas for different bases to go over pasta, making casseroles, etc. Plus making calzones, and pastry filled with vegetables and other filling to add to our diet for even more variety. We did a test one and it worked out great.

Trying to continue a variety of foods in our diet. Doing very well getting fish into diet having it on most Friday's and have also been getting it in during the week also. In addition adding diced peppers, potatoes, corn, spinach and other veggies to go with the fish has worked out well too. Still have had to be careful on portions as stomach still rebels on occasion, hence no weight gain in 2017 and slowly increase portion sizes to maybe put some weight on. Some weeks it goes up but then comes right back down again. Wish me luck.

Have a nice day everyone and tomorrow also,

Sue

Happy Friday all!
I can't remember if I walked on wednesday :? but I think I did. Yesterday I did 2 x 20 minute walks. So not too bad. We have a long weekend coming up and visits with family so I am looking forward to that. :D I suspect we will get out and walk in the woods if the weather cooperates for us. :sunshine:

Hi Sue, glad you are listening to the body and adjusting to what you hear. It is important to know when to push it and when to back off. Great weigh ins for you. Great healthy eating going on there! :thumb:

Hi Mo, I hope the migraine took a hike and you are back to your wonderful happy self!!

Hi to everyone and have a great weekend.

Morning ladies,

Getting much cooler here, so that's nice and I will have to change over clothes soon. However, Chuck said if you do it and we get "hot" again you know you are in trouble (joke here is many times over the years I have changed clothes both out here and back east it get's "HOT" again).

Anyhoo busy day and some of which is phone calls to doctors (oh joy NOT) I will be so glad when I am finally all done with them.

Chris, sounds like some good walks in for you. HUGS on the family stuff....been there, done that so I can feel for you. I hope you get some nice walks in the woods in.

Yes Chris, body is talking this year and I am listening. I am doing walking, shaking booty when the good songs come on and getting good cleaning done a bit at a time. "old body" rebels when I give it too much LOL

Thanks on the weigh ins and eating....plus we hope to add some more in there. Will let you know how they turn out and share.

Hope you had a nice weekend Chris and all is going well this week.

A big HELLO to all and wishing you all well. Off to morning checks, breakfast, dusting and the list goes on....and on.... LOL

A good day to all,

Sue

Hi, everyone,

Happy Thanksgiving, Chris! Hope you had a nice time with your family, and had good weather for woods-walking! Looks like you have been very active lately. :thumb: Thanks on the migraine--it did eventually leave, although it took its sweet time.

Glad your doctor was thinking benign, Sue, and hope you can get that confirmed soon so you have one less thing to worry about. Sorry your Sept. workouts didn't go as planned, but I see you are adapting! Good luck with your October plan. Let me know if you want any tips on the weight gain goal, as I just did a sports nutrition mini-course that included helping people gain in healthful manner. We are having a second blast of summer here--can I blame you? Did you switch out your wardrobe already? :D

Hope all is well, Bama, Bekah, YAH!

I started out Oct. with the elimination diet (no sugar, soy, peanuts, eggs, wheat, dairy or corn), but since 4 days into it I had the longest migraine yet, I gave up. Today I had pb and the other day an ear of corn. I think instead of cutting out everything at once, I'll try just avoiding each thing for a month instead and then testing it. It's really hard to do a strict elimination diet without eating meat/poultry. It ends up being just fruits and veggies, which is not very satisfying.

Anyway, I am hoping this unseasonably warm weather vamooses. I have been missing the AC in the bedroom window the past week. DH took it out awhile ago. :( Sweet dreams, everyone!

Maybe eliminate slowly Mo. Then try the elimination diet Next month at least until Thanksgiving?

Sue i agree on your body talking to you. It seems to talk to you more and more as you get older. :) I'm glad he thinks it was benign as well. :) Someone recommended the Buddy Holly movie to me. She said it talks a lot about old rock n roll. i might watch it if it's on amazon prime. Have you seen it?

Chris hope work isn't too stressful this week and that you did enjoy your Canadian holiday. :)

i signed up for grammarly and bossman i don't like this extra window that is coming up i think because of grammarly membership? I don't have the emoticons now and i don't know them all by heart. is there a way to get rid of it?

forget it i found the button to disable it.

Happy Wednesday all!
2x20 minute walks and one 30 minute walk today. Thanks all I did enjoy weekend. Family fun time, planting Dad's garlic, washing cupboards for nephew and lots of food! :D

We all have to listen to our bodies Sue. Mine is telling me to loose some weight! :Hahabonk:

Good luck with the elimination diet Mo. I found 10 days in and I was off the diet again. I sure hope you can find the triggers and get rid of them.

Thanks Becky. I left all the stress behind at work.
Have a great day all!
