Fasting.

Post by (Rage) »

Okay, this is not you're usual topic about fasting. I know...fasting = starvation mode, BUT....

IN religion, we have one month for fasting, and we fast for a certain time, with no food/water. No need to get into details..I just want the best way to stay in shape, eat healthy...in this month coming.

Because;
When I fast...
I tend to get fatter.
weight just Poof.
stomache bloats a lot.

And, this is part of religion, which I won't break.
I just want smething I could follow, for staying in shape.

How it goes..
Fasting starts around 4:15-30 Am, until it gets dark (sun goes down), (The time changes gradually from 7 pm to 5:30 pm).

So I can eat anything I want from the time the sun goes down to 4 am.

Any opinions?

No. I stick to a healthy eating plan during I assume Ramadan. You should be able at least to get 2 meals in, all with good quality food, like Yoghurt, Beans, Veggies, Fruit, etc etc.

You'll gain Fat, as you're losing Muscle, and also that can affect Fat levels, though not from conversion of Muscle to Fat. That doesn't happen.

Yeah. I'm actually shocked you know about Ramadan.

Actually, I can manage three.

Every 2.5 hours. Or 3 even.

Thaks fot the suggestion, its just that, when we eat ,we start eating a lot, all at once..you know?

And ive been doing some fasting these days, and weight is poof.
One meal (even ifi wasnt full, will make me gain a whole kg)
Before was after some meals, 3 or so I'd gain..not after one.
And it's hard to lose afterwards, and excersize is tough, but I'm sticking to it as much as I can these days.

The weird thing is, everybidy else I know tend to lose weight, and get skinner, but with me it works vice versa.
Well, Will i still lose muscle/ and gain fat..even if I still do workout?

I'm fasting these days for another reason, but myweight really dropped, and just gained a slight , cause of eating a bit of too much in one meal.

Well thre's a possibility you might. Bearing in mind if your calorie intake has been cut in accordance with the principles of Ramadan, then you will have trouble maintain mass, as you won't be consuming as much Protein or Carbs.

Well, it's true...but...i actually eat a lot in that one meal, and then a bit less in the other meal. But i eat abt 3 times, and i think i consume a lot of cals, actually. Same amount, just different planning.

The losing/gaining..is it cause of the "cal intake" or because of not getting food in a long time?

Bit of both. You're going for a long time consuming muscle for energy, but then you're having quite a few calories in a few hours of permitted eating.

Plus you need to be careful when yo do eat, not ot go overboard on caloiries at any one meal, to compensate for calories not consumed in daylight hours, or you'll just convert some calories to Fat, as the bodies Metabolism could think they're excess, hence the conversion to Fat.

Well if you're eating a good caloric amount like 300-350 every 2-3 hours, you should be fine.

It's just not a good idea though, to start having meals with about 500-600 calories in, to compensate for meals you aren't having, as that could cause a possible excess to Fat conversion.

So it's finding that right balance, so you are still sated when you can eat, don't get hungry too soon, and don't want to nibble stuff.

Yep, you've got a tough challenge ahead, I believe it's 40 days of daylight fasting.

Tough on the body potentially, certainly for things like muscle losses, and Fat gains, especially as you risk changing your Metabolism in ways, where future Fat loss becomes harder, because the fasting and night eating for 40 days, will be yo-yoing it, from muscle to Calories and vice versa, so it won't be functioning in a healthy regulated way.

its 30 days actually. Just one month. Yeah, to regain the same old body shape needs serious dedication. I didnt give mine last time ,but I will this time immediately. And in one month, i'll take care of it. I can. I know I can!
