New Golfer

Post by Matthew777 »

Hi

I'm new here, and new to 'the gym' in general so lots of advice needed!

I'm a 15, and am trying to become a professional golfer, just now I feel the distance I hit the ball is holding me back from getting better so I thought I would hit the gym!

Wondering if anyone can give me any advice on a training plan.

Looking to train 4 days a week - I don't want it 100% golf related as I want to get 'bigger' also.

The equipment I have now got is as follows -

Bench (Incline, decline and flat bench press and Leg extension, preacher curl and leg back curl), bar and weights, dumbbells, medicine ball, yoga ball, resistance bands and an exercise wheel thing. I have padded flooring so will also be able to do sit ups and press ups etc.

And then hopefully over the next few weeks I'll be getting a suspension trainer, plyo box and pull up bar. Any other suggestions?

If anyone could help me put together a training routine with the above equipment, the help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Matthew good to speak to you.

This should work for you

Squats, 2 sets, 10 reps

Lunges, 2 sets, 10 reps

Deadlifts, 2 sets, 10 reps

Bench press, 2 sets, 10 reps

Bent over Rows, 2 sets, 10 reps

Shrugs, 2 sets, 10 reps

Planks 30 seconds.

You would do that 3x a week every other day.

You need to start light and work up a bit more every 2 weeks.
