Why am I always hungry?

Post by nikban »

Most of the day is pretty easy to stay away from the bad stuff, but I seem to be struggling with dinner. I always seem the hungriest at dinner, and end up loading up the carbs.

meals are as follows, for example I listed today's meals below-- only drink water through the day about 5-8 glasses:

8AM- pear/ apple

10:30AM- oatmeal (the plain quaker oats kind)

12:30PM- whole wheat wrap with chicken, lettuce, swiss cheese, and a little bit of ranch dressing, with half a can of Cambell's tomato soup

3:00PM- green tea

4:30PM- workout-- so if it's weights, I will have a protein shake after at around 5:45... if it's cardio I just have water

7:00PM- grilled salmon, with vegetables, and probably bread/ pasta.. usually drink soda with dinner (i know i know!! what am i doing?!?!)..

how is this for a day? Why am I always hungry by dinner, and what can I do to stop the cravings?!

12:30PM- whole wheat wrap with chicken, lettuce, swiss cheese, and a little bit of ranch dressing, with half a can of Cambell's tomato soup (Kill the dressing, and make Cheese low Fat, the usual kind with a 50 / 50 ratio of Saturates to unsaturates.)

3:00PM- green tea (Have a meal here, or you'll work out on almost no Carb energy, and no adidtional nutrients, so your body will use human resources to glean Glucose energy from, not food sources, like it should. Try something like a Low Fat Yoghurt here, and try to have one with pro or pre-biotics.)

4:30PM- workout-- so if it's weights, I will have a protein shake after at around 5:45... if it's cardio I just have water (Have the shake after Cardio too. The high GI sugar in it, which it should have, will elevate Lowered Bloodsugar.)

7:00PM- grilled salmon, with vegetables, and probably bread/ pasta.. usually drink soda with dinner (i know i know!! what am i doing?!?!).. (Either have Fish and Veggies, or if you want Pasta, have a small portion of Pasta, with some lean Chicken pieces on it for example.)

The extra Protein should keep you fuller and more sated. Easiest way I can see to kick the food cravings.

The reason you are so hungry at night is that you aren't esting enough during the day. Add more in to the early meals. Also, you really need to eat something before your workout. Working out without eating is like trying to drive a car without gas. Also, eating soon after is important to allow your boy to start the recovery process.

Well before workouts, the very least something like a Yoghurt, or a piece of Fruit and bit of Meat perhaps.

Lately I've been getting hungrier more often as well. I follow a solid plan (if you want me to post a sample daily intake I will) and eat at least 2200 or so calories per day at least 170 grams of protein, which I thought was plenty for being 5'8" 125 lbs. So I don't think it's a lack of protein that makes me hungry, but I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's just that I'm 17 and growing, so I should eat more?

I don't want to eat too much, but at the same time I know being hungry is a bad thing.

What should I do to stop the hunger? Eat more, including even more protein? Drink more water (I already drink a lot)?

make sure you eat enough during the day studies have shown that people who eat more at night tend be heavier than those who don't
