Best way to get from 250 to 180

Post by jayson200 »

Hi

I weight 250 pounds and have been on a low carb diet (around 1000 carioles a day) for about 5 weeks now and loss around 14 pounds. This has been mainly just dieting. Im looking to start doing some cardio work outs, i would also like to weight train, But im worried with weight training i wont get as good results that im getting now. Would it be best to get down to the weight i want to achive and then start weight training? any help would be great, im new to this.

Cheers

Weights and Cardio are a mainstay of weightloss. forget them at your peril.

Start them, and add about another 600 calories a day minimum, that's 100 cals a meal back in, and make the calories mostly Carb.

What's diet like at the moment? What does it consist of?

Jayson,

I started at 240 lbs. and am down to 205 lbs. using a no fat/low fat diet. I also do a ton of cardio and weight lifting.

I would suggest you start weight lifting sooner rather than later. As you build muscle, it increases your metabolism which will burn the fat faster. The cardio is probably the biggest part necessary, but you cannot leave out weights.

Good luck,

I think you need to ask yourself is the scale showing less weight more important to you than looking better. Weight training will make it more difficult to lose weight but that's only cause you're putting on good weight. Scales only say so much.

Let me tell you diet. It's own thing nothing in particular. Nearly all the carbs I consume are from fruits. 3 servings per day almost. I stay away from most other carbs. No juice and no pop. Those are just bs calories and carbs that you have no business consuming. Nothing fried. I try to eat very lean meats when possible and I eat small portions. When I go to subway or whatever, I don't put cheese on sandwiches and no mayo. This is just an idea to help you out.

The Biggest thing is to read every label and nutrition info you can get your hands on. go to nutritiondata.com for information on foods you can't access the nutri info.

Now with Cardio, it does suck but once you get in the habit it gets a lot easier and you almost feel bad if you don't workout. The first 2 or 3 weeks is the hardest by far. But don't worry if you're only running 3/4 of a mile or a mile; it's a start, that's what I was doing.

I'm 20 years old and weighed 249 lbs on April 24th, 2007, today I weigh 198lbs.

p.s. Don't take any crazy supplements, I think most are a crock of $hit and are a waste of money.

Hi I am trying to loose about 40lbs. I am a very bad dieter and just last week I joined the gym and I'm hitting it twice a day, 5 times a week! I'm doing Cardio for 40 min. morning and evening. I also do weights in the evening. I'm open to any suggestions! Any info would be great! Oh yeah I'm a female if that makes any difference.
