How Does Advertising Affect You?

Post by Boss Man »

I thought it would be interesting to understand how people who use this site are affected by advertising, so I thought I would create this questionnaire to understand how you guys are affected by advertising and maybe change your perceptions of advertising.

There are a lot of options to each question, but there is no need to feel under any pressure and the options are not listed in any order of perceived importance, so as not to influence the readers admissions :).

By the way, this information is not going to be used for anything other than the purposes of discussion, nor will it be used to affect aspects of advertising used on the site :).

I'd be interested in peoples reasoning for some of the answers.

for me in anything major i buy like electronics/car/health and fitness

i look at

1. price (deals)

2. reliability/safety

3. reviews not celebrity endorsements because i could care less about that but reviews by normal people!

4. color (for a car)

Although i have done some impulse spending (like spin bike)..

I never use celebrity endorsements as a reason to buy anything, as you never know what they actually know about the product or service, or whether they actually use that product or service, or if they just took the money offered and did the ad.

me neither. i am skeptical of reviews too but if there is a lot of them you can kind of get the general opinion usually.

Some sites use faked reviews or even claim to have celebrity endorsements they don't actually have.

Raspberry Ketones did that recently and used endorsements that none of the people confirmed they actually did.
