hydration

i got up this morning to usual coffee and breakfast, then had dinner and went to the gym, but while i was halfway through 2000m row i realised i hadnt drank a single drop of fluid apart from the coffee. Afterwards i felt really sick and weak and i was just wondering wether lack of water can make you sick and tired and will it matter much to times depending on how hydrated i am?

definately...you wake up dehydrates, then have a coffee which is a duiretic which dehydrates you even more then indulge in activity which dehydrates again...don't ever do this agin...i bet you've seen those triathletes literally crawl over the last part to finish...that's what happens...so yes performance will decrease significantly...you should aim for at least 3 litres of water a day in genral but because you're training everyday it should be closer to 5...evenly space it out during the day if you can...did you read that article i told you about?

Well you should always drink water during the workouts. But you can't put a limit on how much. The best way to tell is when your mouth is dry. That is a sign of dehydrating. Also remember that too much water is not healthy. If you drink too much your stomach could start to hurt, you could vomit, or even (though this is an extreme amount of water) get water poison.

is it true you should drink 8 oz for every 5 pounds overweight you are in addition to the 64 oz?

does being hydrated effect your workout that much?

It without doubt affects your workout! When you exercise, your body loses fluid through sweat. If you lose too much fluid you can become tired and place stress on vital organs such as your heart. In some circumstances you can even suffer from heat stroke.

As for drinking during running i wouldn't advise for it unless you run 1hour or more, experienced runners don't drink for runs that last less than 2hours. But they drink plenty - evenly spaced (very important) before and after.

good point on the runners, just remember that when you feel thirsty ur already dehydrated, so anticipate and drink before, as far as affecting ur workouts, studies show that someone mildly dehydrated losing 10-15% of ur muscle contratile strength, meaning if ur benching 200 lbs at max and ur mildly dehydrated you just dropped to 170-180 lb max which will affect ur sets, i carry water with me everywhere and because of it i always feel well, plus it helps you curb appetite since alot of the time when u feel hungry ur body is really just dehydrated and you'll eat until you get enough water from ur food, which is alot more calories then youd get from water, so drink up

Well, I didn't think of body over-eating to get enough water.
