80 lbs in 30 weeks possible?

Post by econ918 »

I've never done this before and somewhat nervous about writing anything about myself on here. But anyway I decided to turn life around cutting out smoking drinking and processed foods. I started about 3 weeks ago and I was just about at 300 lbs. Since then I have completely over hauled food intake and lifestyle choices. I am not doing some crash diet, simply eating healthy, going to the gym everyday other day (as to rest muscles) and overall just being more active.

food intake has gone from fast food and whatever was quick and easy to grab on the go to prepping all meals on Sunday. Each of meals consists of at least one type of lean protein (i.e. - eggs, chicken, ground turkey, black beans) and a mixture of vegetables (sautéed with very little olive oil or steamed).

I've started working out again at the gym every other day doing a full body workout, working out big muscle groups (i.e.- lower body, chest and double up on back exercises) after which I run on an elliptical for about 20 mins doing intervals. I am also trying to be more active on the weekends. Attempting hiking this weekend, batting cages, driving ranges anything that keeps me outside and active.

So far I’ve lost about 15 lbs or so 65 more to go

If anyone has any helpful advice please pass it along?

Hi Econ, good to talk to you.

What times do you eat and what foods do you eat at those times?

I work a rotating shift so eating times change weekly. This week wake up time was 4:15 am

4:15 wake up chug about 12 oz of water
4:45 2 egg whites, 1 full egg serving of black beans with kale and some salsa
(Strength training days
5:15 whey protein shake with almond milk)
7:00 quest protein bar
9:00 ground turkey, black beans, cabbage and onions ruled into gluten free egg roll and baked, served with broccoli, mushrooms and onions
11:30 5-8 almonds
2:00 baked chicken seasoned with cayenne, garlic powder and hot sauce with broccoli, asparagus and onions
Around 6:00 mixed salad bag add carrots and a piece of chicken using Italian dressing
Bed time around but sometimes earlier sometimes later normally within the hour though

This coming week I will be incorporating different vegetables including sweet potatoes and maybe adding some Quinoa in the mix.

(That's fine)

(Strength training days
5:15 whey protein shake with almond milk)

(I'd keep the meal here as I don't think you need the protein shake, because you'll be getting 30 minutes to start digesting the meal if you eat it at 4:45 as per usual)

7:00 quest protein bar

(That's okay)

9:00 ground turkey, black beans, cabbage and onions ruled into gluten free egg roll and baked, served with broccoli, mushrooms and onions

(That seems fine)

11:30 5-8 almonds

(I'd increase this, because it looks a bit small. I'd say you could easily go for 20 in this snack.)

2:00 baked chicken seasoned with cayenne, garlic powder and hot sauce with broccoli, asparagus and onions

(That;s fine)

Around 6:00 mixed salad bag add carrots and a piece of chicken using Italian dressing
Bed time around but sometimes earlier sometimes later normally within the hour though

(I'd eat this an hour earlier at 5:00, because you're getting 3 hours between meals, but then 2 hours before bed as well.)

This coming week I will be incorporating different vegetables including sweet potatoes and maybe adding some Quinoa in the mix.

It's s little difficult to eat last meal earlier, those couple of hours after work is when I do any errands tjat I may need to do. I will try though.

The almonds that I eat are just to eat something honestly I'm not really hungry at that time, should I still up it?

Where might be a good time for the protein shake? I would like to keep the added protein on those days? Maybe an hour before bed?

The shake would work before bed or after a workout, so before bed might be the best option, in lieu of the way the plan has been refined thus far.

As for the almonds, yes increase them, as you say you don't feel that hungry then, but they won't be massively filling anyway and you might otherwise feel a bit hungry prior to next meal, as it would be nearly 5 hours between meals without them.

Doing a 3x a week TBT like you're doing is perfectly fine as is adding some of the cardio in, just don't be too gung ho, so I'd work it a it like this.

Day 1. weights

Day 2. Cardio

Day 3. Weights

Day 4. Day off

Day 5. Cardio

Day 6. Weights

Day 7. Day off

Give yourself some rest time and keep it split, so you don't just train 5 days straight and then 2 off days back to back, this way you shouldn't be overdoing it.

Don't be nervous to talk on here that's what we are here for. :) a lot of the weight loss will not only be from the exercise or food u can have the perfect structure for that. It really comes down to self discipline and the will power to change urself. You will come accross bumps amd may not lose anything 1 week but 4 another. This is a real mental, and emotional challenge and life chamge. You can over come it and make it possible. If u have ur days and say meh, I will workout tomorrow. Do what I do, we'll I can either workout for 30 mins or use the 30 mins to be miserable like I have for all these yrs. U did a great step coming onto this site and don't hold back from opening up on here. You check out blog in the workout journals and go to c - tunas workout blog. I have been on here for a long time and have been coming over some recent health issues. Lost 30 pounds last yr amd gained it back to to being sick ect. Just never give up on yourself. See this through. U will get there!

80 pounds in 3 months is actually exactly what I did! I went from 258 to 170 in a matter of 3 months. I am currently writing a blog on weight loss if you would like to check it out at Weight Loss Wonders where I am slowly releasing articles on personal weight loss tips aswell as reviews on whats out there ;) check in... or not completely up to you but to answer your question yes 80lbs in 3 months is possible, has been done, and it was all healthy. one quick note though, with any form of quick weight loss you want to make sure you are massaging tender areas with moisturizer in order to avoid stretch marks.

Hope this helps :) stay happy and stay healthy!

Thank you for your support.

I was thinking about adding a pre workout drink. Any thoughts on a brand?

If you're doing that then forget all the fancy shmancy stuff like EAS Catapult and those ones, just go for Powerade as an example. Just pure energy and nothing else, no caffeine, herbs, vits no nothing, just a full on plastic bottle of energy, so you get more primary ingredient, not something with less primary ingredient and unnecessary peripheral ingredients.

Other than that good old tap water works well for me and it's absolutely free :).
