Tryin to lose weight
Im 16 years old im 5'7" 207 pounds and im tryin to lose wieght. I play football and baseball. I also workout on a daily basis except for sunday. I try to get a cardio in at least twice a week. I wanted to see if anyone has suggestions about calorie intake, protein intake, fats and carbs. Maybe even a workout plan if possible.
Basic rule is to burn more calories than you intake. I'm not a fitness expert or a nutritionalist, so I would consult with your doctor to see how much you should be eating and burning. There's also general guidelines on the internet.
Another rule of thumb, is the 80:20 rule. It means that if you are wanting to become more fit, healthy and loose weight concentrate 80% on diet and 20% on excercise. Eat lots of lean protein (about 1 gm/lb), vegetables, and healthy carbohydrates (sweet potatoes, whole grain breads, etc) and healthy fats (olive oil, fish oil) Generally lots of cardio 1/2 hr, 3-4 x's a week is plenty. Interval training is a very good way to burn calories and loose fat.
I hope that helps. It sounds like you have a general idea of what you should be doing. I think the best thing to remember is to be sensible about it and to think about it as a lifestyle change rather than a quick . Also make sure you have fun doing it! nothing is sustainable if you are not having fun!!
good luck, Marianne
