Re: Starting Fresh :3
Hey y'all! I just wanted to check in with you all since it's been a while. I've been better at remembering to eat. If been trying to keep some sort of food (whether it's cereal or a lean cuisine meal or something) in apartment so that I can grab quick small thugs to eat on days that I'm just doing a bunch of work. A much more exciting announcement however is that I've lost another 3ish pounds! Why is that so exciting? That puts me at the lowest weight I can remember having as an adult: 217.5. I don't know if that was just a fluke for today, but I'm incredibly stoked about it. I hope to keep pushing forward. I do keep going to Zumba and quick crunch on Sundays and body blitz on Tuesdays, but as classes have picked up, I haven't managed to stuff another workout evening in there. I did however resume logistics shifts at Old Navy and so I spend at least three hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings lifting, tossing, tearing open, stacking and breaking down boxes along with running merchandise and such. So work itself is quite the workout. Haha. In other news, I did unfortunately break rule to myself. I have bought a pack of cigarettes. I have only smoked one of them and I threw them in the back of closet to keep me from just casually smoking them. If I feel I really "need" one to help me take a step away from all the stress, then they are there, but otherwise, I've had them for two weeks, but there is only one gone out f the pack. I feel really guilty about buying them as well. :/ I'll check in again soon
Thanks as always for the support Boss. Also, thanks Alinshop.

1 cigarette in 2 weeks is still an accomplishment. If you do get the cravings again, may I suggest something....
Try 10 solid pushups followed by 10 sit ups followed by 10 deep and long, in through the nose, out through the mouth breaths.
Follow this by a full glass of cold water all at once (okay, under a minute).
Assess how you feel and if you "need" that cigarette anymore. It worked for me when I quit smoking, so did a 15 minute power walk, it clears the head and allows you to even out your emotions so you no longer "need" that cigarette.
Just some suggestions, it also helps reinforce your healthy choice over the unhealthy habit you are trying to rid yourself of.
Wishing all the luck!

Great going Jena. we are close to the same weight right now. you are a doing better than me though.
Do you know what you will do next year after you graduate? Do you think you will stay in chicago or new york? or somewhere else?? maybe california if you wanted to get into film?? I can't believe you are so close to graduating now!! Are you graduating in the spring??
You do really well with all the demands you have. Great job.

Re: Starting Fresh :3
I am new to this forum, and I would like to be helpful.
You do have a demanding schedule. I do think a short, intense exercise routine 3-4 days per week would be helpful. You can exercise from 7:00-7:30 and start your normal daily routine at the same time you are used to. I would look into doing a combination of strength training with cardio. It is a very efficient way to exercise. Do your best to keep your diet healthy, and balanced. You will need to prepare the night before.

I'd say assuage the guilt Jena. Throw the wretched things out of the closet and bin them.
If you feel guilty about buying any, then how will you feel when you get the urge for another?
They're total dog turd and you don't need even one lousy one and if you're strong enough you'll ditch them and realise you don't need them.
Keep pushing and keep believing, because it's getting better and you are making progress and you deserve to be proud of yourself.

Re: Starting Fresh :3
Hello everyone! It's been a few days, I've been keeping up schedule with Zumba and everything. I'm going to weigh myself before Zumba tonight and hopefully we'll see good things because I definitely ate more frequently this past week and was more active do to a film shoot that I worked on friday (let me tell you, being a boom-operator is one HELL of an arm workout, especially when you can only use one arm at a time because you are also the cinematographer. Hahah.
Becky: Ooo, do I sense a bit of competition here?? ;P Might be a nice challenge. Haha. As for when I'm going to graduate/what I'm planning to do: I will be graduating with full Bachelors of Science in March, I'm then thinking I'm going to move home for a little while and proably keep working retail and freelance. I'm planning to start applying for a work visa to immigrate to the UK in a month or two if I can afford to start that process. I want to move over there ultimately, but I need to save up and get the visa stuff figured out and sorted and find a job for when I get over there which I have several studios in mind. Even if it doesn't end up being final home (seeing as boyfriend is now studying into animation/game dev). We may end up in LA or something, but right now, who knows?
Chris: Thanks for the advice. I don't ever actually crave cigarettes, I've never been a habitual smoker, I either smoke from stress or out of boredom, but due to the fact that I'm hiding the fact that I do occasionally smoke from roommate, I never have the pack on me so I find other alternatives, whether it be music, or coffee, or something like that. But next time I feel like I need a cigarette, I'll definitely try your method to see if it helps.
Boss: I would throw the pack away, but they are the same brand tat mother smokes and if I don't smoke them, I'd rather give them to her when I head home for break instead of just completely wasting the money, you know??

Re: Starting Fresh :3
However by giving them to her you are encouraging her to do it, because it implies you don't mind and I'm guessing you might mind her doing it.
The waste of money was the original purchase so throwing them away won't change that, but keeping them promotes the temptation you have been giving into now and then

Re: Starting Fresh :3
Boss, she's mother of course I want her to quit, but she won't quit until she is ready to. I'm not going to try to shove way of thinking down her throat, especially when I'm no better in regards to smoking. I know the waste of money happened, but why not at least make use of it. Is it a waste of money when you buy something like gum or toilet paper or a gift for a friend? Yes and no. So I'm not going to just throw them away when mother could use them I'll use their existence as a way to prove to myself I have resolve. I break so many promises to myself simply because I don't value myself or needs. So if I can keep the promise to myself that I won't have any more of them, then we are gaining something from this.

No competition. LOL to be honest this week i haven't even weighed myself and i know i haven't done good food wise so you are really a ways ahead of me already. just support and encouraging one another is perfect for me.MissJenaKay wrote:ecky: Ooo, do I sense a bit of competition here?? ;P Might be a nice challenge. Sounds like a great plan. sounds like a great career. I still can't believe you are already graduating.MissJenaKay wrote:I will be graduating with full Bachelors of Science in March, I'm then thinking I'm going to move home for a little while and proably keep working retail and freelance. Re: Starting Fresh :3
Hello guys, another update after a long period of silence. Not much to update on really. I'm now down to 212lbs and I'm hoping to get below 200 before I graduate, which is completely possible, especially if I make an effort to eat and workout well. I haven't been eating or exercising right since I've been home for the holidays but I have not put on any holiday weight so I must be doing something right. In any case, hopefully next update will come much sooner, but as final year is winding down, I've been kinda crazily busy.
I hope everyone is doing very well and the New Year sees everyone making great progress to their goals!

Re: Starting Fresh :3
The main thing is to keep believing in yourself Jena.
You have the power to make more happen and do more, as long as you keep remembering your own potential
You should be proud of what you have done so far, so don't stop trying, don't stop believing and GOOD LUCK

Keep failures behind you and your goals ahead of you and never stop looking forward, then you will succeed by visualizing your future.
Have a Great New Year!!

Re: Starting Fresh :3
Hey guys, no additional weight-loss since last update, but I'm doing better with eating. Getting frustrated with lack of progress since I've resumed eating like a normal human being. I have, however, started doing a Youtube thing with a couple of YouTube friends called #OtterWatch where I'm posting weekly check-in videos in order to have some people to hold myself accountable to that are also looking to get healthier. If you want to possibly check those out, you can see them on YouTube channel Sorry I've been largely missing when it comes to this forum! I try to keep up with y'all, I do read quite a bit of your posts, I just have been forgetting to actually update own stuff.
